Random Tidbits

Cholesterol is a type of lipid (fat) that is essential for all animal life--in the right amounts. It performs three essential functions: 1) Helps make the outer coating of cells, 2) Makes up the bile acids that work to digest food in the intestine, and 3) Allows the body to make Vitamin D and hormones, such as testosterone in men and estrogen in women.

In most people, 60-70 percent of their cholesterol is carried in LDL particles, which are considered "bad" cholesterol. LDL particles are not all "bad," however, because they act as ferries, taking cholesterol to parts of the body that need it. LDL cholesterol becomes "bad" if there is too much in the body in which case, it starts depositing cholesterol into the blood stream.

A little humor

The reason Mayberry was so peaceful and quiet was because nobody was married.  Andy, Aunt Bea, Barney, Floyd, Howard, Goober, Gomer, Sam, Earnest T Bass, Helen, Thelma Lou, Clara, and, of course, Opie were all single. The only married person was Otis, & he was a drunk.

My Rambling Thoughts

Last night brought rain, lightning, and cold. There was just enough snow to cover the windshield and make my vehicle need a bath. I had a dr. appointment and had to scrape the windshield at 9:30. I’m home and all is good.

I didn’t get to watch the Broncos, but something must have gone terribly wrong. Then the Cards played last night and it was an OT nail-biter. They won by a last second field goal in the 1st OT. The OT was amazing.

I’ve heard a couple of interviews with Matthew McConaughey about his new book Greenlights. He has a very positive attitude about life, believing that even the Yellow and Red lights in our lives lead us to more green lights.
