Quite Sunday, some visitors from Tuba stopped by and spent the night, then a nice breakfast, some good conversation, and then they left about 2p. Missed most of Sunday TV shows, but that’s ok. This was much nicer.

Yupik
Central Alaskan Yupik has the largest number of speakers of any Alaska Native language; almost half of the Yupik population are speakers. Children grow up speaking Yupik as their first language in 17 of 68 Yupik villages, according to the Native American Language Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. The total Siberian Yupik population in Alaska is much smaller, about 1,100 people, but virtually all of them speak the language. Children in Gambell and Savoonga learn Siberian Yupik as their first language.

Retro Native Humor…
Between the reservation and the city, there is a road that marks the boundary lines. On one side of the road are the res dogs, and they just kind of lie around staying cool. On the city side are the city dogs, and they always chase cars as they go down the road, barking, "Bow-wow, Bow-wow". One day the city dogs ask the res dogs, "How come you never chase cars with us?" The res dogs respond, "What's the point, it's just a waste of time. The cars don't do anything when you chase them." The city dogs tell the res dogs that they think its just a lot of fun, so finally the res dogs agree to try it just once.
The next car comes down the road, and the dogs from both sides chase the car. The city dogs bark, "Bow-wow, Bow-wow" and the res dogs chase too, but they bark, "Bow-wow, Bow-wow, Bow-wow, Bow-wow eeeehhhhhhhhhhh."

Vincent Willem van Gogh, the great Dutch post-Impressionist painter, suffered from poor health, as well as painful anxiety and frequent bouts of mental illness.
After several attempts to kill himself, he moved to France to improve his health and find an art school.
In France van Gogh met the post-Impressionist artist Gauguin. It is said that when at some point the men struggled, van Gogh ultimately cut off the corner of his own ear lobe.
Another theory is that Gauguin actually nipped van Gogh’s ear with a fencing sword, and van Gogh protected Gauguin with the self-mutilation story.
