My Free Rambling Thoughts   

The sky is blue, but the wind has put a damper on much outside activity. A few kids and dogs with their owners have been on the commons area, but not much other activity. As I’ve said many times, Flag wind is OK, because there is no sand. Got a few calls from TC people today…everyone seems to have had a great break, but are headed back to school tomorrow.  While I am basking in 50° weather, my brother is at 75° in Merida, and my Chicago in-laws are having a high of about 20°. Then there are my Denver friends who are having snow and temps in the high teens. Guess Flag is doing OK.

 

Hold on to your hats…Congress is going to back in session. Pay attention to your reps and Senators and what they vote on and vote against, and what they don’t even vote on. This Congress has been less than stellar in its work and all the Reps and 1/3 of the Senate will be up for election in November. While my Rep has introduced lots of bills, few have been passed. At least she is trying. One Rep and two senators can’t change the world, but by working with like thinking politicians they should be able to something done…one can only hope.

Yeah, It Really Happened

FORT BRAGG, N.C. - An Army officer stationed in North Carolina revealed pictures of "Gingerbottabad," a replica of Obama bin Laden's compound made from gingerbread. The Fort Bragg-stationed intelligence officer, who asked to be identified only as Steve "so I don't limit my career options," posted pictures on Twitter of his scale model of the Abbottabad, Pakistan, compound that sheltered the terrorist leader until he was killed by Navy SEALs in 2011, the Military Times reported Thursday. "Some people on Twitter said that's the most delicious sand table ever, and essentially that's what it is," Steve said of his creation. He said he used four pounds of dough and it took him several days to assemble the resulting 63 pieces of gingerbread into a replica of bin Laden's compound. "It almost felt like an operation," he said. "The research took a few days, I hemmed and hawed for a day or two over the scale and process. The baking took place in one day and all the assembly took place last night." Steve said the replica includes plastic Army men and a model UH-60 to represent SEAL Team 6 and their crashed Blackhawk helicopter during the May 2, 2011, attack on the camp. He said there is still some work to be done before the project is completed. "To the east of the main house there's a garden where I understand [bin Laden] would walk," he said, revealing the garden would be made from coconut. "I'm probably going to break up the UH-60 model a little bit for the crash."
