My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts

A decent Spring Day. I was able to get my friend to work on time and get another friend’s trash out to the street before 8am without any problems.

CNN had live coverage of the protest in Paris this morning. There was lots of tear gas, smoke bombs, and projectiles at the protest over changing the retirement age. Such a shame.  

A suspect has been arrested in the latest leaked documents mess in DOD. I hope they discover his motive and if it was to hurt the US, he should be punished to the full extent of the law.

KY recently had a horrific mass shooting. It turns out now that KY law allows the police to take any legal confiscated weapons and sell them at an auction. If the assault rifle is sold to the public, it gives KY money…and puts the weapon back on the street. That sounds creepy and not in the best interest of the fine people in KY.

Our state legislature is busy. First, they expelled a Republican Representative for orchestrating a meeting in February in a committee meeting that did little more than profess voting conspiracy theories. The Governor vetoed a bill that would have barred any rank-choice voting in the state and another bill that would have labeled non-government organizations to a list of ‘enterprises’ that could be held criminally responsible for if they participate in human smuggling. The fear was that the list could include groups of immigrant aide organizations that find housing and food for immigrants.

4. Utah

To rank this high with exactly zero miles of coastline, you’ve gotta have some superlative sights, and Utah brings it like no other landlocked state in the nation. It’s one of the few states where someone can look at a picture and say, “Oh, yeah, that’s Utah,” whether it’s the famous sandstone arches and the canyons at Moab or the bizarre formations in Goblin Valley. And that’s just the southern half. The Bonneville Salt Flats are one of the greatest geological sights in America, and further north, Utah is home to powder-covered mountains as good as any in the west. If outdoor recreation is your top vacation priority, you might not find a better place.
