My Rambling Thoughts
The day started out cloudless, but by noon the monsoon
clouds have moved in…hoping for some moisture.
I’ve been watching the Barr testimony on and off. It
reminds me how lucky I am to not be an elected official, not be an important
government employee, or a lawyer. I’m am a viable American citizen who contemplates
what I see, what I hear, and what I read. My takeaway from this hearing is that
everyone has an agenda, wants to get others to believe that agenda, and little
else is accomplished.
About a month ago, I dropped my print subscription to the
local paper, due to its outrageous cost. I then signed up for the e-edition. I get
a daily email, sign in and read the paper, minus the comics, the ad inserts,
and special printings. This last week I have gotten an email a day to see the ‘e-edition’
which is supposed to be a PDF file of the entire newspaper. Since I could not
get the e-edition to work for me, I finally called. It took over 20 minutes,
but today I have the e-edition, with all the sections I missed. I had been
using an old email account for junk mail from the paper for over 15 years but
signed up with a Gmail account since the e-edition paper is not junk. The
publisher could not handle two emails. Technology is great…when it works;
Technology is a pain in the *…when it doesn’t.
The Covid has hit the MLB Marlins baseball team. Games
cancelled after 11 players tested positive. All the talk about ‘bubbles’, Covid
protocols, and fast testing results did not prevent the outbreak. Sports teams
are now reevaluating scheduling plans. The NFL has decided to cancel all
pre-season games. Covid will not end
until everyone is on the same page…wear masks, social distance, avoid large
gatherings.
