The Garden
of the Gods, in Colorado, has been a place of great significance to many
Native American tribes. It has been
used by Indigenous people since time immemorial. The
Apache, Comanche, Cheyenne, Kiowa, Lakota, Pawnee, Shoshone and Ute Indian
Tribes all have a historical connection to the Garden of the Gods. The Utes'
oral tradition places the Garden of the Gods as the place of their people's
creation. In the warm months, the Ute Indian Tribe would travel to the Garden
of the Gods to spend time there. They would use the old Ute Pass to travel to
the hot springs to make offerings to the spirits for good health and good
hunting. |

Nice fall
day. Had a nice walk around the neighborhood wearing a light jacket. The
vaccine has divided our country. The difference in coverage of Rodgers misleading
statement and Irving’s refusal have certainly received different coverage. Maybe
it’s just the difference between football and basketball. Both the
Cards and the Broncos won yesterday, and I got to watch both games live. Nice! Sesame
Street did a special about kids getting vaccinated. It upset some far-right
politicians. Senator Cruz calls it ‘Government Propaganda’ while State
Senator Wendy Rogers, AZ, said that Big Bird is a Communist. Sad. |

Pilgrims aboard the Mayflower caught
sight of land at Cape Cod, Massachusetts, in 1620. Thirteen people died in The Great
Boston Fire of 1872. The mutilated body of Mary Jane Kelly,
believed to be the final victim of Jack the Ripper, was discovered in
Spitalfields, London, England (1888). 1938 – Crystal Night (Kristallnacht)
took place in Germany. 30,000 Jews were arrested and nearly 100 were killed. 1965- Roger Allen LaPorte, protesting
against the Vietnam War, set himself on fire in front of the United Nations
building. 1965 – There was a blackout over much
of the Northeastern United States, more than 30 million people were affected. 1989 – The Berlin Wall opened. 2005-- The Venus Express mission of the
European Space Agency was launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in
Kazakhstan. |
