Real Cities
Ding Dong, Texas in Central Texas. It is situated on the
Lampasas River, eight miles south of Killeen in southwestern Bell County.[2]
In the early 1930s a man named Zulius Bell and his
nephew Bert Bell operated a country store along the Lampasas River in central
Texas. They hired the artist C.C. Hoover to make a sign for it. The finished
sign had two bells on it with the Zulius in one and Bert in the other. In
addition to the bells, Hoover lettered the words Ding Dong. As the community
grew around the country store, it took on the name 'Ding Dong’.

Blessing or Curse?
Work had begun on the
small bungalow retired banker Charles Pole, 81, of Wiveliscombe, England, was
building for himself on his property when excavators unearthed the remains of a
13th-century bishop's palace, simultaneously solving a local mystery and
bringing construction to a halt. Historians had been looking for the site, once
home to bishops of Bath and Wells, for 200 years, and a spokesperson for the
South-West Heritage Trust described it to the Somerset County Gazette in early
March as a "significant find." In the meantime, though, Pole is stuck
with the bill. "The cost of the investigation is going to cost me around
($26,000)," he said. Building will continue after the site is protected

My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts

A cloudy day, no precipitation
in the forecast. I made a run to Sam’s for gas. Gas is down to $2.98. The gas
lines were long. The guy in front of me had a huge RV with a car being towed.
That meant he took up both pumps while he was filling two huge tanks. After
filling the first tank, the machine cut him off, so I had to wait while he
put in all his cards again to fill the second huge tank. I’m glad I didn’t
have anything else to do. JB’s meat got hacked. That is
the company that bought out the place where my dad worked. Meat prices will
surely rise, whether there is a shortage or not. First fuel, then meat…what
do the Russians doing next? I don’t want to think about it. The Coconino County Fair will
be an in-person event this year, during the Labor Day Weekend. Yeah! Less than a month after launch,
From the Desk of Donald Trump blog has permanently shut down. Another first
for the former President. Good news from the Supreme
Court. They ruled unanimously that tribal police can hold non-tribal members
for offences on the reservation. Prior to this ruling the tribal police could
only hold a non-tribal member for a federal offence…murder, kidnapping, etc. Now
they can hold for any crime that threatens tribal security. Now Biden has put VP Harris in
charge of protecting voter’s rights. It’s a good move, but she is also in
charge of immigration issues. I hope she can make great strides in both
areas. |
