My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
Last evening
there was just enough monsoon rain to dirty the windshield on my vehicle.
Today is much better as it has been an hour+ female rain. Nice! I spoke too soon.
Soon after typing this the clouds broke open for a male rain. I headed out early
for a needed haircut. I called and made an appointment yesterday. I arrived
at 8:50 about 10 minutes before they opened. I tried the door, and it was
open. I went in and my stylist said ‘we open at 9a’. I sat down, one lady was
ahead of me. She checked in the first lady, then asked for my name. I gave it
to her, and she said ‘Are you a walk-in?’ After explaining she said she has a
9am appointment but would take me now. She did, gave me another great haircut.
As I was leaving at 9:10, a lady came in…and she was the 9am appointment. Worked out quite well for all concerned. So glad I don’t
live in Ida’s path. Quite a lot of damage and it looks like no electricity
for a couple of months for many. The US can expect energy costs to rise due Ida. Now there is a
huge fire near Lake Tahoe. It is something like 17,500 acres. Lots of
evacuations. Tough on the tourist industry as well as the residents. Rachael Maddow
taught me some history last night about Afghanistan. The British invaded
Afghanistan in 1839, pulled out years later, invaded again in 1878, pulled
out again. Then when they invaded in 1919, they gave Afghanistan its
independence. The USSR invaded in 1979 and pulled out in 1969. The US invaded
in 2001 and pulled out in 2021. It looks to me that Afghanistan has a way of
winning against the most powerful invaders.
Lesson learned? The Dept. of
Education has cancelled some $9billion in student loans since Biden took
over. This is after 4 years of stalling by Betsy DeVos. This has helped
563,000 students who owed money to now defunct scam Universities. Great! |
