Thoughts for the day
A nice blue-sky day. I went out to Andy & Faith’s to water their trees.
It’s been easy since it has rained a lot this week.
The world seems excited about the new Pope. Of course there are a few
naysayers regarding his early position on the child abuse charges of other
priests. He does seem to indicate he will continue Pope Francis’s works.
Trump keeps tariffs on Barbie Dolls, but drops them on Rolls Royce. Hmmm.
Native American Tribes That Dominated History
Creek (Muscogee) © New Georgia Encyclopedia
The Creek, or Muscogee, were a confederation of towns and
tribes in the Southeast. They managed large populations through intricate
political and social systems.
This confederation allowed them to influence trade and
alliances during the colonial era significantly. The Creek were known for their
agricultural prowess, which supported their communities.
Their ability to form strategic alliances with other tribes
and European settlers was key to their influence. Despite facing challenges,
they maintained a rich cultural heritage. Their legacy includes a strong sense
of community and cultural pride, which persists today.
Random Thoughts…
2000 years
ago, there were probably people who had season tickets to the Roman Colosseum.
Sweden has an official font, called ‘Sweden Sans’ and it’s used by its government ministries, agencies, and corporations.
It’s only a matter of time before “autocorrect” leads to a major
diplomatic incident.
A group of Rattlesnakes is called a Rhumba.
The “Michelin Man” is named Bibendum and is one of the oldest trademarks
in the world.
Misunderstood History…
The Titanic Didn’t Sink Because of an Iceberg “Gash” ©wikimedia
Movies show a massive tear ripping open the ship’s hull. In
truth, the iceberg caused small punctures along the side.
Poor-quality rivets and weak steel made the damage worse. The real tragedy was
the ship’s flawed design—watertight compartments weren’t sealed at the top.
