My
Rambling Thoughts
Nice Friday…record setting temps, clear blue sky…our little
mountain town is a great place to live. My first day of Teva sandals all
day!!!!
I got 3 more tax related forms in the mail today…honestly, these
companies should not be able to wait so long to send them. The tax people are
very busy and need ALL the stuff before they start. My accountant just smiled
when I delivered them today.
Went to Sprouts for some real food and ran into my former school
counselor and his brother. We spent about an hour catching up. NICE.
Looking forward to a quiet weekend and lots of time outside. I’m
ready to plant spring flowers but the local nursery says it is way too early.
They are probably right but sure would like some more color around. Daffodils
are looking good, but tulips are still not ready to bloom.
Saturday is Earth Hour and since our little mountain town was the
1st Dark Skies City in the world, many will be observing one hour of
no lights on Saturday night. Sure hope others turn off their lights too and
look up at the sky.

…Flagstaff,
AZ History…
100 YEARS
AGO--1915
The Flagstaff Street Department is employing extra men to clear
the streets of
ice and
snow. Wagons are being used for haul it away, otherwise it melts during the day
then freezes at night. The drainage is poor at best, so the problem is hard to
overcome.
With all the snow falling in the mountains, filling our new
reservoir is no
longer
speculative. Abundant water for next year is assured.
Oak Creek is on a rampage and the children are unable to cross to
get to school.

Yep, It
Really Happened
When they say that job opportunities for young people are drying
up, they are almost never talking about the adult entertainment industry.
Particularly prostitution. While prostitution is only legal in a very small
part of the U.S., in other parts of the world it is much more widely accepted
and main stream. Germany, for example, where legalized prostitution is such an
industry, brothels are now advertising for quality control testers to check the
standards of their services.
That's right; professional 'johns'.
The brothel in the German capital Berlin is looking for both men and women to
check quality, cleanliness, and safe sex practices - and to see that their
brothels offer value for money.
According to the advertisement the job is for an international company with
more than 120 workers in Germany, China and Spain. The ad claims to want people
with a university degree, preferably a degree in business, experience with
brothels, and a full health certificate.
The ad says: "Practical experience with many years of brothel visits
necessary. You should enjoy having fun with people and you should not be afraid
of contact."
So suddenly that week you spent in Amsterdam doesn't seem like such a life
mistake. So what do you think; would you work as a hooker tester?

Plastic
bags are easier to recycle and require less energy to produce than
paper bags.
Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to run a television

butts and filters take 12 years to biodegrade. An aluminum can
takes between 200 to
500 years to biodegrade. Plastic diapers and sanitary pads take between 500-800
years. Styrofoam takes more than 5,000 years. And it would take a glass bottle
1 million years to degrade.

Brain Teasers Answers
The tail of a comet is caused by the sun's solar radiation
pressure and solar wind. These force dust particles and ions to flow out from
the comet, away from the sun. As a comet gets closer to the sun, the radiation
pressure and wind get stronger, and the tail grows longer. The tail always
extends away from the sun, so as the comet moves away from the sun, the tail is
ahead of the comet's general direction of movement (although not directly
ahead, just farther away from the sun than the comet's head).

All ‘data’ info is
from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source,
but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the
information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult
to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted
[1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
