Another really nice fall
day.
I went to a luncheon put
on by my financial advisor. Some good ways to protect retirement money. Good
lunch too. NAU, our local university has opened a hotel and conference center
under the auspices of training the Hotel Management Courses. Good idea. The
food and service was very good. Sure beats the old faculty dining room I used
to eat at when I was a TA for ESL classes back in the 70’s. One of the other
listeners just returned from Egypt. We had a nice conversation and she said
that she had a great time…no lines anywhere, treated very well, and did many of
the places I had done. She is a tour operator and said that she lets people
know that they have to be flexible in Egypt, but no problems about safety or
security. Sure was glad to hear that.
I am also working on
getting web site up for Martha. Hope that goes well tonight. Waiting right now
for a return call to get some information.
My trip keeps having
last minute minor glitches…before we leave. Today we learned that Hotel shuttle
in DC doesn’t run after 11pm—something about security. Now we have to take taxis
at 11:30pm. Hmmm. What a choice.
I took my new glasses
into the ophthalmologist to have them checked. Wrong day, wrong time. There was
a new lady at the desk and said that I needed an appointment for next week or I could wait about 45
minutes. What a joke. Then she went to check and came back and said that I could
take them to the eyeglasses seller across the waiting room. I walked over there
and that lady said they don’t usually do this…like I already knew that. I told them
this was silly and walked out. When I got home, there was a message on my
answering machine, asking me to call the office. I did. The assistant
apologized for the poor communication on their part, told me they had new
staff, and said I could bring them in tomorrow. I told her that wasn’t
necessary as I was busy, I understood that people have bad days. She said the
staff met after I walked out and realized their mistakes. I was impressed with
their call and let them know I did appreciate it.

SALISBURY, N.C. - A
North Carolina man who has hunted for Bigfoot for decades says he will lead a
four-day expedition to seek out the never-confirmed, man-ape creature.
Michael Greene, 70, of
Salisbury, who said his previous encounters with Bigfoot -- also known as
Sasquatch and Yeti in the folklore of different cultures -- include hearing the
creature roar and capturing thermal imaging footage of a 7-foot-tall creature
with no discernible neck, said he will lead a team into the Uwharrie National
Forest in November to try to bring the reputed creature out of hiding, The
(Raleigh) News & Observer reported Monday.
"Usually,"
Greene said of his previous Bigfoot hunts, "nothing at all happens. But
you hear roaring in the bushes. They'll pitch rocks into camp, but they never
hit anybody." Greene said his team will try to root out the Sasquatch with
low-tech methods such as banging on trees with baseball bats and leaving candy
bars at their campsite

One of the relatives

The doctor replied,
"A female brain costs $25,000 and a male brain costs $50,000."
The men smirked, but one
of the females asked, "Why is that, doctor?"
"Well," the
doctor replied,” the female brain is less because it has been used."
