Rambling Thoughts
Mother’s Day is always difficult after losing a mom, but this year
I posted her picture on FB and got lots of likes and some nice comments. Also
nice that others also posted pics of their moms. Social networking can be nice.
Fareed had a very interesting discussion about radicals. The main
story was about the crazies in Nigeria. One of his main points is that both
Christianity and Islam have lots of people claiming to follow the religion. The
majority of these followers are simply moderate believers who go about their
everyday lives. Both religions have a few with extremist views who are not
afraid to use violence to show that they are believers. It has been like that
historically and continues today. An important lesson for all of us to
remember.
My parents, being children of the depression, were always frugal.
My mom gave me a picture of her, taken for the church directory, about 25 years
ago. It is a very nice picture. When I decided to post it on FB, I had to scan
it. I took it out of the frame, only to find a picture of my younger brother
behind her picture. I’m can hear her thinking, well, I already have a frame so
I don’t need to buy a new one. I scanned that picture too and sent it to my
brother. We both smiled, knowing that it was typical Mom.
Strange weather day…clear when I got up, the about 10a a 15 minute
snow storm, then lots of wind, then a lot calmer, then strong winds again.

FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) — A New Mexico librarian discovered a blast
from the past, specifically 1967.
Lola Delaney tells The Daily Times (http://bit.ly/1gny3It) that
she was recently cleaning the library of Hermosa Middle School in Farmington
when she went through a cardboard box.Delaney says inside were 31 letters all dated April 1967.
According to the letters, they were written by students and meant to be given to the class of 1987.
In the letters, the students touch on numerous topics including the Vietnam War, the space race and miniskirts.
Delaney says the students who wrote the letters have been invited to an annual celebration May 19 at the school, where the letters will be available to read.
She says she doesn't know if students in 1987 ever received them.
