My Free
Rambling Thoughts
Lots of clouds and finally a nice long shower at my place, but looking around, it looks like other areas go at least some rain. That’s good.So the jury is finally deliberating in the Zimmerman trial. Over the years I have worked with a few ‘security’ people who were little more than wanna be cops. Since the first release of information, that is the picture I have had of Zimmerman. He didn’t need to ‘follow’ the kid, just call 911 and sit tight. If he is found guilty, it will send a message to lots of wanna bes to be much less vigilant in their pursuit of crime. If he is found not guilty it will send a message that one does not need to listen to 911 trained operators and just go after any perceived ‘perp’. Scary times may be ahead. Interesting and nice that the Zimmerman family issued a joint statement of their belief in the justice system and asking for peace no matter what the verdict is.Having spent much of my career looking at Language in a variety of ways I have to share this.: Animal Sounds in Different Languages

Unusual Fact of the Day
A trip around the bases on a baseball diamond is 20 yards longer than a goal-line-to-goal line run on a football field.Joke-of-the-day
Three men were discussing at a bar about coincidences. The first man said, " my wife was reading a "tale of two cities" and she gave birth to twins""That’s funny", the second man remarked, "my wife was reading 'the three musketeers' and she gave birth to triplets"The third man shouted, "Good God, I have to rush home!"When asked what the problem was, he exclaimed, " When I left the house, my wife was reading Ali baba and the forty Thieves"!!!

Yeah, It Really Happened
A Tennessee homeowner was distracted by a naked woman swimming in his backyard pool. The 54-year-old man told police that a man and woman who lived nearby approached his home to talk to him. During the conversation the man excused himself to go back home and retrieve cigarettes.Alone with the victim, the woman asked him about his pool, and if she could take a swim. He told the woman it would be OK and led her to the rear of his house where the pool is located. The woman then asked if it would bother him if she swam in the nude, and he replied that it would not. She proceeded to take off her clothes and jumped into the pool, swimming for about 20 minutes. The home owner retrieved a towel from inside his home, the woman dried off, dressed and left.It was at that point he re-entered his home to discover that he had been robbed of a handgun, jewelry and medication. The loss was placed at $1,195.While the two suspects have been identified, they have not been found by police for questioning.
- Somewhat Useless Information
- The most common type of shark attack is the so-called "hit and run" assault. The shark bites and then quickly releases the person and disappears. These attacks usually involve injuries to the leg below the knee and are not usually fatal. Humans are usually considered too bony to be a good meal for a shark.
- Seen from below, swimmers or surfboarders are often mistaken for seals or sea lions, whose fatty bodies are a favorite treat for sharks. Human splashing creates irregular ripples in the water below, which to a shark may indicate an injured seal or fish.
- In the U.S., your chances of getting killed by lightning are 30 times greater than dying of a shark attack.
- Shiny jewelry that gleams like fish scales, multi-color swimsuits, and irregular tanning, especially on the bottom of the feet, could also confuse a shark into thinking a person was an animal.
- Most shark attacks occur on the inshore side of a sandbar or between sandbars because fish congregate there and because sharks can become trapped at low tide.
- When attacks are reported, it is often difficult to determine what type of shark was involved since even experts can have trouble distinguishing them when in the water.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet
sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned
that every site has mistakes and sadly once out the information is out there,
many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events
occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be
totally accurate.
