Thoughts
for the day
A
nice warm day with not a cloud in the sky.
I
know that our area needs moisture, I just hope it comes as rain.
Another
plane crash with 7 dead and more injured…another event to let the under-educated
make baseless assumptions as to the cause.
Mayan
Culture of Mexico and beyond…
Their knowledge of medicine was advanced.
Mayan healers were known as shamans, and
they were integral parts of Mayan society. They were known for performing
cleansing rituals and had a deep understanding of how to use plants to help cure
ailments.
Shamans were able to create painkillers
and anesthetics in order to perform more painful procedures.
Random
Thoughts…
The
first avocado tree in the United States was planted in Florida in 1833.
The
question “Can you hear me?” technically only has one answer.
A
baby spider is called a spiderling.
During
the production of Saving Private Ryan, Matt Damon was intentionally
kept out of the boot camp training with the other stars to make them resent his
character more.
When
you rearrange the letters “ELEVEN PLUS TWO” you get “TWELVE PLUS ONE”
Origin of
city nicknames…
Houston, Texas: ‘Space City’
“Houston, Tranquility Base here. The
Eagle has landed.” With these historic words spoken by Neil Armstrong during
the Apollo 11 mission in 1969, Houston cemented its reputation as 'Space
City'. However, the story of Houston's connection to space exploration
began in 1962, when NASA established the Manned Spacecraft Center in the city,
which was later renamed the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center in 1973. It was from
here that the Apollo 11 moon landing was coordinated. Today, visitors can
explore the recently restored original Mission Control room at the Johnson
Space Center, reliving one of the most pivotal moments in world history.
