Thoughts for the day

I filled my vehicle with gas and bought a few groceries, just in case this incoming storm keeps me inside for the weekend. The weather guy says 2” of snow, then it’s 4”, and now it’s 6”. Only time will tell.

Trump banned the AP from the White House, but it turns out, they can still be in the press room. The story is because AP agreed that every leader can change the name of places, but it only applies to that country, and they will continue to use the world-wide accepted name. Trump still wants the water called Gulf of America.

The Senate keeps approving members of the Cabinet. I’m trying to stay calm as the new Secretaries are making unusual proclamations. This is crazy…Sec of Defense has returned Fort Bragg to its original name…but claims now it is named for a  different Bragg, not the original one, a confederate soldier.

Forgotten American Heros…

Fred Korematsu

Fred Korematsu challenged the U.S. government's internment of Japanese Americans during World War II. His defiance led to a historic Supreme Court case that questioned the constitutionality of internment.

Though he initially lost, Korematsu’s case became a cornerstone for civil liberties discussions in America.

In 1983, his conviction was overturned, and he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1998. Korematsu's story emphasizes the importance of standing up against injustice and the relentless pursuit of constitutional rights for all citizens.

Mayan Culture of Mexico and beyond…

You can experience Mayan culture in person.

The name “Maya” comes from the ancient city Mayapan in the Yucatan peninsula. This was the final capital of the Mayan Kingdom in the Post-Classic period.

"Maya" is the overarching parent term, but the Maya people refer to themselves by specific ethnicity and language, such as the Tzotzil Maya that live in the central highlands of Chiapas in southern Mexico.
