Thoughts for the day
A
pleasant winter day.
Trump
revoked Biden’s security clearance…just like Biden did to Trump when Trump left
office.
The
National Labor Relations Board (NRLB) is an important to employees in the government.
It rules on major disputes between employees and the government. Years ago the
NLRB ruled in favor of BIA teachers when the government tried to change us from
Career to seasonal employees. It is a board of 5 members. Up until yesterday
there were only 3 members with 2 vacancies. That’s when Trump stepped in and
fired the chairperson. Now they only have 2 members and cannot function until
they have at least 3. This can be devastating to any group of employees with awaiting
a decision.
I
admit there are expenditure issues with USAID. That does not mean that it
should be shut down and have their sign removed from the building they inhabit.
Right now, there is an Ebola outbreak in the Capital of Uganda. USAID can no
longer provide much needed medicine to stop the outbreak. I visited there with Focus Travel years ago to
see the gorillas. The people of Uganda do not deserve to be unable to get
medicine to stop this outbreak.
Forgotten American Heros…NEW
Sybil
Ludington
Sybil
Ludington, at the tender age of 16, rode 40 miles through the night to alert
American colonial forces to the British approach in 1777.
Her
courageous ride is sometimes compared to that of Paul Revere, but many are
unaware of her contribution. She set out on horseback, covering twice the
distance of Revere. Her bravery inspired the local militia to gather and
prepare for battle.
Although
her name might not be as well-known, Ludington’s story exemplifies young
courage and resourcefulness during critical moments in American history.
Her
legacy lives on as a symbol of determination and patriotic spirit.
Mayan Culture of Mexico and beyond…
They were masters of invention and
astronomy.
From the complex calendar to the
architecturally perfect temples and structures, to say the Maya were experts of
invention and astronomy is an understatement. What the Maya figured out thousands
of years ago continues to affect our lives in the present day.
The Mayans were the first to calculate
that the calendar year has 365 days. They observed the cycles of nature and
believed that every 52 years there would be a cycle of destruction. The Maya
were also the first to use zero as a placeholder.
