My Rambling Thoughts
Another monsoon day. Took off early to
head for Target. Haven’t been there in months. After today’s visit, I know why.
Nothing of interest there for me. Usually find some interesting stuff when I do
visit, but today…nada…zilch.
Listening to the new guy in the WH press…Great,
we get it…you are rich, you went to lots of schools, and you love the
President. Is that all you have?
My personal opinion: Sean Spicer made
the right decision.

Yep, It Really Happened
I was going to tell you a story about a
man whose fiancée nagged him into buying a lottery ticket that turned out to be
worth $500,000, but then I saw this bit of luck...
A Florida man survived with only minor injuries when a 7,000-pound metal pipe
fell from a crashed truck and crushed the roof of his van.
Jesus Armando Escobar, 36, of Orlando, was exiting Interstate 4 when a Mach
truck loaded with scrap metal crashed into an overpass guardrail and
overturned.
A 7,000 pound metal pipe fell from the truck as it crashed, fell from the
overpass, and landed on Escobar's van.
State troopers said the driver's side roof of the van was crushed by the pipe,
but Escobar was able to walk away with minor injuries. Officials said anyone
sitting in any other seat in the van likely would have been killed.
Theodore Olson of recycling center AATR Orlando said he was shocked to hear the
driver had survived.
"I've seen crushed cars before, but nothing in this kind of circumstance,
where, like, they were up on upper bridge and it rolled out of a container and
crushed a car. I thought it was a fatality, to be honest with you. But they
came out and said, 'Nope, he's only got scratches.'"
The truck driver, Antonio Santiago Wharton, 33, was ticketed for careless
driving.

Somewhat Useless Information
Most modern fireworks displays use
aerial shells, which resemble ice cream cones. Developed in the 1830s by
Italian pyrotechnicians, the shells contain fuel in a cone bottom, while the
"scoop" contains an outer layer of pyrotechnic stars, or tiny balls containing
the chemicals needed to produce a desired color, and an inner bursting charge.
***
Americans have been setting off
fireworks to celebrate their independence since 1777, at least. Even some of
the very first Independence Day celebrations involved fireworks. On July 4,
1777, Philadelphia put together an elaborate day of festivities, notes American
University historian James R. Heintze. The celebration included a 13 cannon
display, a parade, a fancy dinner, toasts, music, musket salutes, "loud
huzzas," and of course fireworks.
***
Layers of an organic salt, like sodium
salicylate, combined with the oxidizer potassium perchlorate burn one at a
time. As each layer burns, it slowly releases a gas, creating the whistling
sound associated with most firework rockets. Aluminum or iron flakes can create
hissing or sizzling sparkles, while titanium powder can create loud blasts, in
addition to white sparks.

Ciroc
Beyond his penchant for sending TV-show
contestants on long walking trips to get him cheesecake on the other side of
New York City and frequently changing his stage name, Diddy has several
non-entertainment business ventures. In addition to his Sean John clothing, he
represents the Ciroc vodka brand in the U.S. This marketing partnership, along
with Diddy's other business enterprises, has brought him massive financial
success. This bad boy for life has truly transitioned into a multimillionaire
business mogul. Source: Vibe

‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one
other source, but I have learned that every site contains mistakes and sadly
once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore
difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar
was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
