My
Rambling Thoughts
I
head out early Wed. morning to get to Denver. Tomorrow is
packing/washing day and a visit to the doctor, so this will be the
last post until I return.
Got
up this morning and realized I'll be on a ship in a few days. Headed
to Walgreens for ginger. Stopped at the bank and picked up some cash
for the trip. Had to get some small bills for tipping. Tomorrow I
head to my Dr. for my 'medical certificate'. I am hoping for an 8x10,
suitable for framing, certificate with my name embossed in Gold Leaf.
I'll settle for anything with my name, his signature and degree, the
date, and saying I'm fine for travel.
Last
night was a fund raising for PBS...again. This time they had a great
concert with Celtic Woman. Awesome show. Music was great, women
playing instruments, one barefoot, others in heels, while dancing
gracefully around the stage. I DVR's it and started watching the
recording about an hour after it started, so I didn't have to listen
to the fund raising part. I'm already a sustaining member. Too bad
modern technology doesn't allow them to put the show on sustaining
members TVs without all the long fund raising. Haha.

Puzzle
Answer at the bottom of the page
You
are in a cookie factory, and need to make a huge batch of chocolate
chip cookies. The recipe calls for exactly 4 cups of sugar. Problem
is that you have two buckets. One bucket holds 5 cups, the other 3
cups. Using these buckets, how can you measure exactly 4 cups of
sugar?

Puzzle
Answer:
This is possible, and there
are two ways to do it:
Solution 1: Fill the 3-cup bucket and pour it into the 5-cup bucket. Fill the 3-cup bucket again, and pour it into the 5-cup bucket until the 5-cup bucket is full. That will leave exactly 1 cup of sugar in the 3-cup bucket. Dump out the 5-cup bucket, and dump the 1 cup from the 3-cup bucket into the empty 5-cup bucket. This leaves 1 cup in the 5-cup bucket. Now fill the 3-cup bucket again and add it to the 5-cup bucket. Now you have exactly 4 cups of sugar in the 5-cup bucket!

cup until the 3 cup is full. That will leave exactly 4 cups in the
5-cup bucket!
