We do not see nature with our eyes,

Random Tidbits
Mexico — home to white sand beaches, delicious food, ancient ruins
and... empty suitcases? Tradition says that walking your empty suitcase around
the block will guarantee a year filled with travel and new experiences. This
tradition is popular in other Latin American countries and is perfect for all
of you “wanderlusters”. Locals will also toss a glass of water out of their
window to signify fewer tears in the future. A year of good travels and no
tears — it sounds like Mexico has the right idea. So, if you find yourself on a
beach in Playa del Carmen on New Year’s Eve, make sure to grab a drink and
empty your suitcase to celebrate the local way.
South Africa-Looking to redecorate? You might want to take some pointers
from the South African locals and throw your unwanted furniture and appliances
out of your windows and onto the street. Locals say that this brings them a
fresh start to the new year. The tradition is a bit dangerous, as even
refrigerators were thrown out of windows, so the tradition has calmed down a
bit. Small towns and large cities alike have celebrations all through the night
on this holiday. Whether you want to visit a beautiful wine region, go on a
safari or throw a table onto the streets — this African country has what you
need to have an unforgettable New Year’s Eve.

Man
burns himself while praying at Applebee's
A
New Jersey appeals court rejected a lawsuit from a man who alleged he suffered
burns from his Applebee's fajita when he bowed his head to pray. Hiram
Jimenez's lawsuit alleged he visited the Westampton restaurant with his
brother, Rafael, and they decided to pray over their food. Jimenez said he
bowed his face over his steak fajita, which was served on a skillet, and he
soon heard a loud sizzling noise followed by a grease pop that led to a burning
sensation on the left side of his face, including his eye. Jimenez, who alleged
the waitress did not warn him the food was hot, said he knocked the plate over
in a panic, causing the food to spill on his lap and incite further burns.
Jimenez filed a lawsuit in state Superior Court, accusing the restaurant of negligently
giving him hot food that led to serious injury. The Superior Court ruled
against Jimenez, saying the danger caused by the sizzling fajita skillet was
"open and obvious" when Jimenez chose to put his face near it. The
two-judge appeals panel sided with the lower court. "Here, the danger
posed by a plate of sizzling hot food was self-evident," the ruling
stated.

My Sometimes-Long-winded Thoughts
Since I returned from my Christmas, I can’t remember what day of the
week it is. I am guessing I’ll be OK when Monday finally arrives.
Getting the vaccine into arms is getting harder by the day. In
Florida, seniors were told to make an appointment. Then a few days later, they
announced no appointment was needed and that it would be first come. Hundreds
of elders showed up on the day the vaccine was available, only to be told that
they needed an appointment. Here is an idea: a nationwide plan, like getting
either of the polio vaccines when I was a child. I showed up, got a shot or
sugar cube, and went on with my day as did all the kids lined up in front of or
behind me.
Jan 6 will be a real test of our democracy. Four days before the
elector college votes are approved by Congress, almost a dozen Senators and 140
Representatives say they will vote against the count! What has happened to our
country?

Four cars come to a four-way stop, all coming from a different
direction. They can’t decide who got there first, so they all go forward at the
same time. They do not crash into each other, but all four cars go. How is this
possible?
