Today’s Thoughts

Another chilly morning. Fall has arrived.

I had my first PT appointment today. It was great. I learned a lot and have several stretching exercises before my next session on Friday. She believes my issue has to do with tight muscles in that leg…especially the hamstring. Good news.

Just a word to the wise: The new Speaker of the House in DC was a leader in the ‘Stop the Steal’ movement in the House. Let’s see if he has changed.

I had my wellness check for Medicare…even with all my issues in the last few months I id well on the check. Seems like every year there are more and more questions about how I am doing. I’m still very positive for sure.

New winter parking restrictions go into effect here: No street parking midnight to 7am, even if there is no snow. It doesn’t end until Apr. 1. Not sure what the towing fee is.

Game 3 of World Series was 3-1 Rangers over the Dbacks. Series is now 2-1 Rangers.

A local pond that was named for a conservationist suffered greatly from runoff, killing most of the fish a year ago. The good new is that they have completed the clean-up and prevention that this will happen again will begin today and should be completed by Nov. 7.

Enjoy

Facts that seem made up Trivia…

Queen Elizabeth II reigned for almost 30 percent of US history

Despite all of the incredible accomplishments the US has made on the global stage, in the grand scheme of things, the United States is a pretty young country. The Declaration of Independence was only signed in 1776, meaning that the country has existed for less than 250 years.

Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne on February 6, 1952, when she was just 25 years old. She ruled for 70 years until her death on September 8, 2022. If we count 2022 in the equation, Queen Elizabeth II reigned for over 28 percent of America's history!

Was a singular knife.
“Well,” he mumbled at last,
“Doubtless there are other roads.”

Today’s Thoughts

Much cooler fall day.

Sports: tough day for the Buffs as they lose to UCLA. D-backs 9-1 over Rangers !!

Washed, dried, and put away 2 full loads of towels this morning.

When I bought my Apple watch a few weeks ago I added a $17 screen protector. Turns out it was a thin plastic that was little more than sticky saran wrap and had come loose. I went back to Best Buy and they said I had to have the manufacturer send me a new one. I asked to see the manager because I was told when I bought it all I had to do was bring in my receipt in case it needed to be replaced. The manager checked and said only Phone screen protectors were the only ones they did that for. I asked if they had a better one. He checked and brought up a plastic cover that protects the sides and top of the watch. I liked it and said it was sad that Best Buy, known for its high-quality technology would even sell the saran wrap protector. He agreed and sold me the plastic one for $18 instead of the regular price of $35. I was happy, but will be more careful when I buy for Best Buy.

Halloween information… Trivia…

When did kids’ trick-or-treating start?

The practice of trick-or-treating could also have been inspired by an older tradition called “souling.” On All Soul’s Day—the Christian holiday that gradually replaced the older Celtic holiday of Samhain—poor people would visit richer people’s houses and pray for the souls of their departed loved ones in exchange for treats called soul cakes, according to History.

The modern practice of neighborhood trick-or-treating has been documented in the U.S. since the 1930s. The tradition of handing out sweet treats to trick-or-treaters took a hit during World War II when sugar was rationed, but in the 1950s, the practice returned in full force in the suburbs, and it has been a beloved Halloween tradition ever since.
