My Free Rambling Thoughts   
So I woke up to some light snow, then the sun, then heavy snow, then sun, the lots of clouds all the time dealing with strong winds. We never got the predicted 3-5” but did get enough to dust the ground. Been about 80 years since we had snow on the 10th, but in 1961 we had 7” on Oct. 9. All of this did put me in the mood for some winter. Didn’t get outside very much as the wind certainly had a chill. Then made a crock pot full of homemade chili..Looking forward to a less windy day tomorrow.

So the children in DC met today…and left without talking to press. They say this is a good sign. Now that is old time politics…backroom with no one talking about what was discussed. News outlets are freaking out. They are trying to make stories, but since no one is talking, it is all guess work.

After stepping around a marked police patrol car parked at the front door, a man walked into H&J Leather & Firearms intent on robbing the store. The shop was full of customers and a uniformed officer was standing at the counter. Upon seeing the officer, the would-be robber announced a hold-up and fired a few wild shots from a target pistol. The officer and a clerk promptly returned fire, and several customers also drew their guns and fired. The robber was pronounced dead at the scene by 

Paramedics. Crime scene investigators located 47 expended cartridge cases in the shop. The subsequent autopsy revealed 23 gunshot wounds. Ballistics identified rounds from 7 different weapons. No one else was hurt. 

Unusual Fact of the Day
Not a single witch was burned at the stake after being convicted in the Salem witch trials. (Most were hanged.)


Joke-of-the-day
The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples.. The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray: 'Take only ONE . God is watching.'

Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.
A child had written a note, 'Take all you want. God is watching the apples'.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale University police are investigating a series of laundry-tampering incidents carried out by a suspect dubbed "the poopetrator" at the Connecticut school. Students using the school's Saybrook College laundry room reported their clothes were soiled with urine, food waste and feces in a series of September incidents and Saybrook Master Paul Hudak said Yale Police have opened an official investigation, the Yale Daily News reported Monday. "We have asked our students not to leave their laundry unattended, the affected machines have been thoroughly disinfected, and we are actively seeking information about who the perpetrator might be," Hudak said. "That's about all we can do." The culprit or culprits were dubbed "the poopetrator" by students after Lucy Fleming's clothes were soiled by what appeared to be human excrement while in the laundry room's dryer Sept. 7. Incidents involving urine and food waste were reported the previous day. A further incident was reported Sept. 26. "The fact that this could happen at Yale is shocking to me," Fleming said. "Think about what this means for our community."  
  • Somewhat Useless Information   
  • When a camel uses the fat stored in its humps for energy, the humps start to get smaller and deflate. The humps grow again when the camel rehydrates.
  • Camels make the most of a meal. They can rehydrate faster than any other mammal, able to drink about 30 gallons (113 liters) of water in just 13 minutes.
  • Camels can run up to 40 mph for a short period of time. They can maintain 25 mph for longer making them about as fast as a horse.
  • Camels are known for spitting on people. In fact, the animals are throwing up the contents of their stomach along with spit. This is a defense tactic when the animals feel threatened.
  • The large beasts make a variety of moans, groans and deep, throaty bellows. One of the camel's noises was even used to voice the character Chewbacca in the Star Wars movies.
  • Camels have very thick lips allowing them to eat even very salty, bitter or thorny plants. If hungry, camels can even eat leather shoes.

My Free Rambling Thoughts   
The forecasted wind arrived and blew hard all day. Not a day to spend much time outside. Probably should have spent the day doing laundry, but alas, not today. Baked some cookies instead. Just waiting for the snow. First they said 1-3", now it is 3-5"...tomorrow will tell.
 
That bizarre motorcycle incident in NY still has me scratching my head. As many as 5 off duty cops are with the bikers and does nothing to stop it. An undercover cop is there and doesn’t do anything as he might blow his cover and then he broke one of the SUV windows. A guy in an SUV is terrified when bikers are on all sides of his vehicle so he runs over a biker and bike to get away. The bikers chase him and break windows. Insanity reigns.
 
As a Downton Abbey fan, I was a little surprised that in today’s dollars, it would have cost over $8 million a year to keep everything running like it does on the TV show.

Yeah, It Really Happened
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. - A Michigan woman who passed off two cans of spaghetti sauce as an explosive device during a bank robbery pleaded guilty to the crime. Ophelia Neal, 53, pleaded guilty in Oakland County Circuit Court to bank robbery and explosive charges following the April 6 crime in Macomb County, The Detroit News reported Tuesday. Neal pleaded guilty in Oakland County because she had been wanted there for violating her parole. Police said Neal went into the Fifth Third Bank in Clinton Township April 6 and told a clerk she was carrying a bomb in her cloth bag. Neal fled with an undisclosed amount of cash in a car driven by a man. She was later arrested and police discovered her cloth bag contained two cans of spaghetti sauce. Neal, who has previous convictions for fraud, marijuana possession and assault, is scheduled to be sentenced Nov. 9 before Macomb County Circuit Court Judge Jennifer Faunce.
