 Few Americans are aware of the Battle of Blair Mountain, one of the largest civil uprisings in U.S. history. In 1921, a coal-mining strike in West Virginia led to the 10-day clash pitting at least 7,000 armed miners against about 3,000 deputies, hired guns and volunteers. Federal troops stopped the fighting after a death toll estimated at 30 to 100 miners and 10 to 30 on the other side.

 Superfan Luis Nostromo, 43, of Barcelona, Spain, has spent the last three years turning his apartment there into a stunning replica of the set of "Alien," the 1979 Ridley Scott film starring Sigourney Weaver. His locations include the laboratory where the face-hugging monster attached to actor John Hurt was first examined; the spaceship's corridors; and the pod that Weaver escapes in. Oddity Central reported that Nostromo hopes to finish his "Alien Museum" project by the end of the year and is already accepting visits from other fans.

My Rambling Thoughts

A nice day for a short walk. I was happy to see on the internet machine that the Broncos pulled out a win.

I sat down and studied the ballot. It is important to vote on the down ballot issues, so I had to do some reading. Now I’m ready to walk in, mark my ballot, and get another sticker.

I am confident there won’t be any major election day issues around the country. I am concerned that after the voting ends, some radicals on either side may attempt to take things in their own hands. Voting is how we pick our leaders. If someone doesn’t like the results, be more involved in the NEXT election.

I realize that some don’t see things that way…like the ones who harassed the Biden Bus in Texas. Those Trump rally people yelling ‘Fire Fauci’, like the bus harassers are in the minority. A very vocal minority for sure, but still a minority.

"The more I thought about it, the more unique the name became to me, and that's when the thing acquired its charm," the baby's dad, 35, said. My Rambling Thoughts

Nice Sunday morning and warm enough for a walk through the neighborhood.

Skipped the Sunday News shows as all were nothing but election coverage and took the walk.

Cardinals have a bye this week. Broncos not on my TV so have to follow it on the internet machine.

Many of the people who go to our local shelters are street alcoholics or street drug users. The shelter’s have rules like not allowing consumption of either. If a person doesn’t follow the rules, they are picked up by police who take them to jail or the hospital. Rumors spread fast in our homeless community and a dangerous one is that users are banned from staying in the shelter. When the last cold spell hit, two homeless males froze to death on the streets. The head of shelter services says the rumors are hard to dispel and can easily lead to tragedy. Sadly, many communities are looking at the street people and don’t work on the root cause which is addiction or abuse or mental illness. Every year it is the same tragic stories…it is time to get some major changes.
