A great summer day. Slight breeze helping with the higher temperatures.

The USPS and our HOA have finally shaken hands and yesterday I got my first mailbox delivery in a week. All good now.

The Olympics keep giving great completion. So nice to see these young, and some not so young, athletes competing at top levels. It is so enjoyable to watch.

I got a call yesterday that the Business Tech I worked with at Tonalea School passed away yesterday. She had left Tonalea School about 15 years ago and was in her early 60’s. It was quite a shock. I’m waiting to find out what happened. Delores was born and raised in Tonalea. In her early 20’s she was Miss Western Navajo and competed for the Miss Navajo title. After her reign she started working at the school. She was kind, friendly, hardworking, and dedicated to her family. She had 2 adult children and a husband. Very unexpected.

I will never understand the trauma that police officers face. I also don’t understand why there is not a lot of mental health experts available to assist officers without putting a negative mark on their official record.  I will not understand how people who were there can continue to say it was just like any other day. Since the ‘incident’, 4 police officers who were there have committed suicide. These suicides were preventable if mental health services had been available immediately. I can’t help but wonder how much the denial of the actual incident led to the choice to commit suicide. So sad.

An almost cloudless sky…looks like no monsoon for today. It’s OK, as last year we had 2.61” on rain in July. This year there was 5.66” in July, not the 2013 record of 7.57”

The US was a month late in hitting our 70% vaccinated, but we made it. More need to get vaccinations.

NY Gov. Cuomo seems to be in quite a bit of trouble. Any charges appear to be sexual harassment as there isn’t enough for sexual assault. That makes it civil, not criminal. The question will be who stands beside him and who want impeachment or resignation. When will office workers learn that anything like this is unacceptable. It looks like Fox’s Judge Napolitano is out for comments he made to young males at Fox.

I was never a gymnast, and never enjoyed the gymnastic units in high school gym class. However, I really enjoy watching all the gymnastics. There has been plenty of drama in Tokyo. Great comebacks after defeat, some amazing performances, and some very good performances. Then the last night’s 400M Men’s hurdles…what a finish with a new world’s record. WOW! Our local DACA runner didn’t make the finals in his heat. Still a great story.

Starting another monsoon day. Clouds are coming in and I’m hoping for more female rain today.

I’m still enjoying the Olympics. I don’t follow most of the Olympic sports, but sure enjoy watching these top athletes doing their sport. This morning I was watching Kayak singles and doubles. Impressive to see their agility in the kayak. I learned about the long cool down after a race. I’m also impressed by the athlete’s endurance in the high humidity-high heat of Tokyo’s outdoor events. True Olympic spirit with the high jumpers who tied and decided to share the gold rather than have a jump off.

The Tuba Boarding opening saga continues: Today is the first day of school for ½ the student body. This morning they announced that lunches would be delivered by bus to those at home at 9a. That means that 3 days a week students get a sack lunch, and two days a week they go to the cafeteria for lunch. TGIR

I’m seeing lots of videos of ‘Bear Sun’ as he walks across Navajoland. He is a man in a life-size costume walking across the US to emphasize a variety of human causes. Here is his story.

The media is trying to raise the vaccination rates with stories about people who didn’t get vaccinated. They also show parents who will not vaccinate their eligible children. It is obvious these parents care about their children, but don’t want to understand the science. Sad.
