My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
A nice day…if
we ignore the smoke from the nearby fire. US89, the road from Flag to Tuba is
still closed just outside the city limits. Several people from my discussion
group live in or very near the evacuated area. I’ve tried to call them, but no
answer and the only number I have is their landline. I hope they are safe. The
fire grew to over 6000 acres yesterday. There is another big fire near Prescott.
Spring is always very windy and that is helping spread both fires. So sad.
I went
shopping at Sam’s. For as long as I can remember plain, skinless Chicken
breasts have been $1.99/lb. Today they were $2.98/lb. Sea Salt Whole Cashews
have been $9.98/container. Today they were $11.98. This inflation thing is very
real. I can’t help but wonder how many vendors are using the pandemic as a good
enough reason to raise prices.
Since the
pandemic began, I have learned how fragile our democracy really is. To verify
that fragility, a Federal judge has ruled that the CDC mask mandate is illegal.
Every American is now totally confused and that includes all businesses. Crazy.
I still wear a mask when I am in a small store or in close proximity to a lot
of people I don’t know.
