My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
Our mountain
town may get rain later today. Clouds are now building up near the mountain.
I saw my Primary
Care Physician this morning. All good. Just tweaking a few meds. It’s a thing:
the older I get, my body wants different amounts of my meds.
N. Korea hasn’t
been in the news since Kim and Trump exchanged love letters. Now Kim wants
everyone to remember N. Korea. They have launched a record number of ballistic missiles
this year. Suddenly everyone is paying attention again.
I visited Thailand
about a year after their beloved King has passed away. It was a very nice
country, great people, with an interesting history. I was saddened when read
about the horrific massacre at a child-care center. Children as young as two
years old were slaughtered by a deranged man who left the school and killed his
family, then himself.
My TV didn’t
have the Broncos/Colts game last night. I followed the score on my iPad. It sure
looked like the Broncos would win, until the last minute. Then they lost in OT.
I read where a Denver TV station apologized for the comments made during the
game about how badly the Broncos were playing.
Those of us who
grew up in Colorado learned about the Sand Creek Massacre in elementary school…sort
of. We learned about the army beating the Cheyenne and Arapahoe. I don’t recall
it being labeled a massacre that the army killed many peaceful women and children
in their encampment. The current Interior Secretary has just announced that the

Historical Site] is going
to be upgraded. That is good news.

Being tagged
in a social media post that says you need to tag other people, or you’ll be
doomed is pretty much a tale as old as time (in one form or another.) According
to NPR, the world’s first chain letter was sent around hundreds of years ago
and the falsely credited author was Jesus. The letter was supposedly sent down
to earth after he ascended to heaven and included the line, “He that copieth
this letter shall be blessed of me. He that does not shall be cursed.” Copies
of the letter from the mid-1700s have been uncovered and the concept of the
chain letter still lives on in new forms of communication.
