‡ Free Rambling Thoughts…
It was clear, then it was cloudy, then it got muggy, then it got sunny again…no moisture made it to the ground. Sure could have used some. A breeze would be nice too, since the sky is almost devoid of clouds, but it is still muggy. Fan is helping move some air in my office workroom. I decided I shouldn’t call it an office, since I am retired.
I talked to Mary yesterday, and she is doing much better, still has a gross cough, but otherwise, she is back to normal. Glad to hear it, cause that angioedema is a really big inconvenience. I stheak from ethperience. A swollen tongue makes it really hard to talk clearly.
My four year old phone’s small screen stopped showing any caller ID or showed my missed calls. It tried to, but much of the screen didn’t show what was there. So I broke down and bought a new phone. Caller ID is a real convenient feature as is the list of calls coming into the phone that hung up if I didn’t answer. Like all new devices there is a learning curve. Every company has a different way of making calls, a different way to answer calls, and a different way to get messages. I still remember answering my grandparent’s black dial phone that weighed as much as one of today’s small TVs. I sure wish I had kept that phone. When my grandfather passed in the late 70’s, he was still using that phone—with a round disk in the center of the dialer with the number…GRand 7-1906. It always sounded so much cooler than our number…BElmont 7-2432. Now with cell phones, I don’t know anyone’s number in my head. Even using my land line I usually have to look to my cell or the computer for the number. It’s time to bring back the word parts of our phone number. So much easier to remember…my landline would be 9atjob01AZ…oh, that won’t do, I don’t have a job. LOL
It seems that Canyoneers must have received several emails suggesting more pre-trip information on the Sandra. They are a motorized company that only does the non-motorized trip because the owner is an in-law of the original owners. They do three non-motorized trips a year and a whole bunch more of motorized trips. Anyway, I sent an email last week to thank them for the trip and suggest more about the Sandra. Turns out a traveler from an earlier trip had written an article and the website has added a lot more information. I was happy to hear that. I’m sure Greg is glad to see it too.

CHARLESTON, Maine - Officials at a Maine golf course said they are employing their 6-year-old golden retriever to bring golf cart keys back to the clubhouse. The owners of the White Tail Golf Course in Charleston said Kaleigh's job started as a joke when a golfer handed the keys to the dog to see if she would bring them back to the clubhouse, WABI-TV, Bangor, reported Thursday. The owners said Kaleigh now spends most of her days bringing keys to the clubhouse from golfers who are finished with their carts.
