My Free Rambling Thoughts   
Clear blue sky. Nice fall day for a walk around the neighborhood. And now that things are so much brighter, it is even better. I can now see better without my glasses than with them. So cool.
 
As I headed out on my walk, I was a little surprised to see a Navajo Hand Trembler on the front sidewalk doing something for my neighbors. Several people were around her and she was quietly doing her thing. I have seen this done many times on the Rez, but it was kinda nice to see it happening here in Flag. Sorry that the residents are having a problem, but hopefully they found the answers they were looking for.
 
Good talk with my brother and his wife as we try to set up Christmas travel. They are doing well and excited about getting together for the Holidays. Unfortunately Laura’s sister and brother-in-law are calling it quits after 2 kids and about 15 years together. Laura says it is very amicable and they will have houses a couple of blocks from each other. Kids, K and 4th, seem OK, but are way too young to really understand what is going on. We always spent many hours at their house over the holidays, so we’ll see how it works out this year. Those two kids, along with a few others have always made Christmas more exciting.

Yeah, It Really Happened
25-year-old John Knight was driving his Volvo station wagon down Church Street through San Francisco's Noe Valley neighborhood at about 10:30 in the morning when he came across a strange scene.
A heavyset woman stood wrapped in a blanket, surrounded by medical personnel. 
Suddenly, the woman whipped the blanket off and threw it at the medics, revealing that she was completely naked, Knight said. Then she turned around and noticed Knight, still stopped and now shocked behind the wheel, about 50 feet away.
"She walks directly to me," he said. "She walks up the hood of my car and she begins stomping on my windshield, completely naked."
The woman, who Knight estimated to weigh about 250 pounds, cracked his windshield with the first stomp. She got a couple more in before plainclothes officers pulled her off and hand-cuffed her as she screamed, Knight said. 
Apparently the woman had stripped on a commuter train earlier in the morning for no good reason, and it was pure coincidence that Knight pulled up to that intersection at that exact moment.
"They (the insurance company) didn't really know what to make of it." Knight said.

Finally, the judge agreed ordered the ex-wife to fork over $120,000!

My Free Rambling Thoughts   
Good day…blue sky, warmish, not too windy. Couldn’t ask for more on a fall day. 
I had lunch with Cheryl this afternoon. Mary is already in Phoenix for the weekend. Cheryl had a good week in Williams, enjoying the peace and quiet of a really small town. Found out I have choices about my glasses…after the surgery…wear them and see things blurry, take out the right lens and have no lens, pay $50 and get a blank lens, or don’t wear glasses and see things blurry.  The $50 is out, since even that lens would only work on the right side, so when they do the left eye, no help. I look dorky enough without walking around with only one lens. Besides, every day is a little better.
 
I ran into an old colleague/friend today. Nice to see him. He was one of the guys who I figured would never retire, but he finally did about three years ago and is now very happy. He mentioned how fast time flies when you are retired. New projects, new things to do, always busy. Nice for him. Too bad he didn’t believe me when I told him it was that way when I first retired.

ESTANCIA, N.M. - A lawyer for a former assistant librarian in New Mexico said his client lost her job for reporting two city workers found having sex in the children's section. Joseph CampBell, attorney for former Estancia Library employee Jamie Kurz, said his client showed up for work in August and discovered two city employees -- the town's head librarian and a maintenance worker -- "engaged in sexual intercourse on the floor in the children's section," KRQE-TV, Albuquerque, reported Monday.
The workers told Kurz to be quiet, but she reported the incident to the city library director and Estancia Mayor Sylvia Chavez, CampBell said. "The mayor subsequently talked to Jamie about it, told her that it wouldn't have any effect on her job," CampBell said. However, Kurz went on leave when the head librarian returned to work, claiming a hostile work environment, and was soon fired. An Oct. 10 letter from Chavez to Kurz said she was being fired for failing to return her key to the library while on leave. "Your refusal to turn over town property upon request and as required to ensure uninterrupted library services shows a lack of cooperation and willingness to work with supervisors,"
Chavez wrote. "This behavior constitutes insubordination and jeopardizes the Town's ability to serve its citizens." However, CampBell said Kurz believes her firing was tied to her refusal to keep quiet about the August incident. CampBell said he plans to file a claim with the town and a possible whistle-blower lawsuit could follow.

My Free Rambling Thoughts   
Great checkup on my eyes. While things are still blurry in my right eye, I can see more of the eye chart than I have seen in years. Things are looking good. Lots of eye drops to contend with one for swelling once a day, one antibiotic 4 times a day, one other one twice a day for something. This will all end soon. So far my biggest complaint is the tape residue that is left on my face from the eye patch I have to wear when I am sleeping. All the talk of moderate to severe pain was a myth, I did feel a little discomfort after the surgery, but it was gone after my afternoon nap yesterday. I am still a little dilated, so not much time outside. Tomorrow I face the world. I’m going to the glasses place to see if they can give me…sell me…a blank lens to put in my glasses until my eye stabilizes in a few weeks. The eye doctor’s office wasn’t very encouraging about that happening, but this is such a common surgery and everyone who has it doesn’t need their old strong script, the dispensary must have a solution.
 
I just saw the absolutely dumbest commercial I have ever seen. An older woman (in her 50’s) and her daughter are in the kitchen. Another daughter comes in and says ‘What happened?” The older woman says that her husband was coming down a ladder and slipped, but is not hurt that bad and doing fine. One of the daughcters says ‘Have you two talked about ‘final expenses life insurance?’ Then the dad (in his 50’s) walks in with a sling and they all sit down and call the company. Seems like a severe overreaction from my point of view.

Yeah, It Really Happened
NEW YORK - A New York woman is suing the city for putting her in jail for five days after police searched her when she bought a soda from a corner store. Catherine Cyrus, 24, of Brooklyn, had just bought a Sprite from a bodega February 2012 when police surrounded her, asking to see her identification, the New York Post reported.
Police searched her purchase and, finding only the soda, told her to leave the area. When she refused, the officers arrested her, the federal court lawsuit said. She was charged with disorderly conduct and obstructing governmental administration, and spent five days in jail before being released, the newspaper said.
Judge ShawnDya Simpson dismissed the case when it came up for trial after an officer claimed Cyrus tried to strike one of them. Officers never charged Cyrus with assault and Simpson said the officer's story was "totally incredible."

  • Cincinnati, Ohio, is named after a great figure of Rome, Cincinnatus (519-438 B.C.). While plowing his fields, he was made dictator and placed in charge of the war against the Vosci and Aequi. He did the job in 16 days, left his powerful position, and went back to the plow.

They are: vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry, hence the hint. To be more specific, Neapolitan ice cream is a block of ice cream divided into the three distinct flavors and originated in Naples, Italy.
