My Rambling Thoughts
Got my weekly shopping completed. Been bitching about Sam’s remodeling for quite some time. Well, today they are no longer happy just moving everything from place to a new place every week, now they are tearing out a section of the parking lot. Lost about 30 parking spaces near the exit, making it a challenge to leave through the exit and then maneuver to your vehicle. Make it stop!
Our monsoon is taking a break. No rain yesterday, none today. But our trusty weatherman sez the monsoon rains will return tomorrow. Yeah!
Our leader has been a bully for decades. It has always been his way or the highway. Those who disagree are not paid or ridiculed loudly, or financially destroyed. Now the world gets to watch how one bully deals with another bully. Thankfully, right now it appears that it is just a war of words. Hoping it stays that way. Must be hard for the cabinet members. They have one message and the leader has another.
Since Guam is in the news I want to relate a story from my TESOL (Teaching English as a 2nd Language) days. I was attending a national conference, and a group of Guam teachers were presenting. I attended their presentation. For those who forgot, Guam is a US territory and has a non-voting member in the House. Their main language is Chamorro. They had many of the same issues that we had on Navajo. They were doing amazing innovative techniques to help their K-12 students learn English. We were also treated to some great food and cultural dances during the conference. I was amazed at the number of attendees who did not know that the people of Guam were US citizens. Any attack on Guam is an attack on the US.
Since this Guam threat came out last night, I have been amazed at how many news broadcasts keep referring to the many US troops on the island, and as an afterthought the 160,000+ locals. Remember, they are US citizens too.
