My Rambling Thoughts

The wind stopped, but the temps dropped a bit more…guess it is fall.

Cleanup day at my place. Laundry, vacuuming, changing linens, mopping floors, and last but not least, gutter cleaning and sweeping up pine needles on deck and front area. Looks and feels much better. Also updated the Focus Travel Club site and added a new logo on certain pages.

Hard for me to believe that people are continuing to listen to Steve Bannon. He has declared war on the Republican Party. He wants to get rid of ‘establishment’ people…that really means those who don’t agree with me. Crazy.

My Rambling Thoughts

Very windy day here. Long, clumped pine needles on deck, sidewalk, vehicles, parking lot. A real mess. Expected to continue until sunset. A little cooler than yesterday, but don’t want to spend much time outside.

Having traveled with Focus Travel Club and HLO Tours to Africa many times, I was confused when 45 added Chad to the list. I’ve never been there, but it just seemed odd. Turns out, it was more than odd. Chad has been sending its army around to most of its neighboring countries to fight Boko Haram as everyone in the region knows they have the best fighters. Then 45 sent letters to a whole slew of countries asking for a newly printed Passport so the US could be sure that they can’t be easily counterfeited. Chad replied that they did not have any of the special paper used for passports and as they waited for a new shipment, they would miss the deadline. They couldn’t send a new one but would send one printed previously. 45’s Team said, no deal. Chad made the terrorist country list. Chad then pulled all of its army out of the regional countries. Then 4 American soldiers were ambushed. Hmmm.

Bizarre News

*----------- This Story Sounds Fishy -----------*

A British man's heart stopped after he accidentally swallowed a 6-inch long Dover sole on a fishing trip in Boscombe, in southern England. The man, 28, who was not named, went into cardiac arrest after the fish jumped in his mouth, blocking his throat. However, paramedics were able to clear his airway after drawing the sole free with forceps. Matt Harrison, an emergency responder for the South Western Ambulance Service, said he was on the scene in under two minutes. When he arrived on the dimly lit pier where the man was fishing, a friend of the man’s was already performing CPR. This friend, also not named, told Harrison the 28-year-old had jokingly placed a fish he had just caught over his mouth. The sole then wriggled free and jumped in. "It was clear that we needed to get the fish out or this patient was not going to survive the short journey to the Royal Bournemouth Hospital," Harrison said. After six attempts, the fish finally came out in one piece. To the paramedic's amazement, it was a whole Dover sole, measuring about 6 inches. After the patient arrived at hospital, he was able to respond to some questions, and has since made a full recovery.

My Rambling Thoughts

Still nice and warm, but getting more clouds, with the hope of some moisture for our dry forest. Weatherman says most of the moisture will evaporate before finding its way to a tree.

Today is my brother’s birthday. He is enjoying it at their place in Mexico.

Gen. Kelly led a press conference today. Powerful words from a man who lost his son in Afghanistan. Lots of people are not happy with the current President, many are not happy with the current Congress. That is fine and good, but everyone must maintain some sense of decorum. I must add, words from a General and Gold Star family member carry much more weight than someone who never served. Earlier in the day Bush-43 also gave a good speech about remembering that our country is ‘the beacon on the hill’. Nice to see people trying to stop the vile rhetoric from so many sides. And that bullying must stop.

And there was a leader of the white supremacy movement spoke at Florida State. It remained peaceful with a huge presence of law-enforcement and National Guard. That is what free speech is all about.

A driver has been credited with helping crack the case after he spotted a suspicious suitcase being loaded onto his bus as he prepared to drive from Paris to the airport. Acting on his tip-off about a large brown bag that appeared to be moving on its own, police at Beauvais pounced on a Romanian man who picked up the suitcase and a smaller black rucksack as he arrived. After arresting him, detectives found an accomplice hidden inside the case who, once alone in the baggage hold during the trip, would pull a strap to unzip himself and then begin his thieving. Both men, aged around 40, were from Romania and had criminal records for theft.
