Rhode Island state officials said a technical
glitch was to blame for 176 tax refund checks being mailed out bearing the
signatures of Mickey Mouse and Walt Disney. Jade Borgeson, chief of staff for
the Rhode Island Department of Revenue, confirmed the checks were mailed out
this week with the signatures of Walt Disney and his most famous cartoon
creation instead of Rhode Island General Treasurer Seth Magaziner and State
Controller Peter Keenan. "As a result of a technical error in the Division
of Taxation's automated refund check printing system, approximately 176 checks
with invalid signature lines were printed and mailed to taxpayers on
Monday," Borgeson said in a statement. "The invalid signature lines
were incorrectly sourced from the Division's test print files," she said

My Rambling Thoughts
Another nice weather day. Ain’t complaining one little bit. Doors
and windows open to let in the warm fall air.
When shopping on Friday, I couldn’t find any cans of Coke Zero.
Nor could I find a specialty battery for a clock. So this morning I headed to Wal-Mart…as
they usually have everything. They had the battery but did not have cans of
Coke Zero. The Coke vendor happened to be on the aisle filling the shelves. I
asked and he said they can’t get the cans needed for the coke-zero and a couple
of other specialty coke products. Interesting for sure. Guess I’ll be getting
plastic bottles for a while.
I was happy that the Cards pulled it off yesterday. Hoping the Broncos
do the same tonight.
The local Weather Service issued a new map this morning for our
winter precipitation…sadly AZ is in La Nina, and that means it will be another
dry winter. Not good news for our local dry forest.
Social Media does little again: The Oregon/California/Washington
fires are horrendous. Now Q-Anon is posting false stories on social media claiming
that Antifa members have been arrested for starting many fires. This has caused
the 911 emergency lines to be clogged with people calling to find out who was
arrested. Actual truth, there have been no arrests and nothing connecting the
fires to any group. The postings started on Wednesday and Facebook removed some
of the posts on Saturday while Twitter did nothing about the posts. I find this
unacceptable. We deserve much better.
