Nice warm day. Temps will be dropping back in a few days.

The census data recently released: Colorado has the 14^th highest Native population at 57,578, Arizona is number one at 332,273. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there are now about 6.79 million Native Americans living in the U.S. – about 2.9% of the U.S. population – and there are 574 federally recognized tribes.

FL governor Ron DeSantis berated high school students for wearing masks at a press conference at a location with very high incidence of Covid. He said: “…you do not have to wear those masks. I mean, please take them off. Honestly, it’s not doing anything. We’ve got to stop with this COVID theater. So, if you wanna wear it, fine, but this is ridiculous…” I am at a loss for words.

Ukraine: Maripol and its 400,000 Ukraine residents have been cut off from the rest of Ukraine by the Russian army. As of this morning over one million Ukrainians have fled the country. The people are still hanging on with their leaders.

My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts

Another early spring day.  Weather guy sez it will continue until….the weekend, where more snow is expected. I headed out to get groceries. Parking lot was crowded. I got what I needed and headed home.

I have always listened to the State of the Union Address no matter who is in office. I want to hear about the good plans, as well as what is going on in the world view. I liked seeing two women sitting behind the President…that was a first. It was nice to see everyone’s face…the mask mandate on hold. Biden certainly laid out a lot of ideas that will help the average American. He made it clear that the US will help the people of Ukraine, without threatening or angering Putin. He did say no Russian planes could land in the US. That statement followed the lead of the EU. Planes have a bigger impact on Europe for goods and tourists, than in the US. Time will tell what will actually happen.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the leader of Ukraine, had been a stand-up comic before running for office. Now it is clear he is a real stand-up guy. Many leaders would have headed for safer arenas as the war continues. He stays and makes daily announcements either from his bunker or on the streets of the capital. Right now, he is the leader worth watching.

Remember that ship with $400million of luxury cars that caught fire. It sank yesterday. Now the fear is the environmental damage the 2200 tons of fuel will cause the Atlantic near the Azores.

Still laughing: Safelite Auto Glass is a good company that has replaced several windshields on my vehicles over the years. There latest commercial has a female photographer near Monument Valley, AZ (on the Navajo Reservation) discovering a broken windshield on her ride. The next picture is the windshield being replaced in one of their service centers. Then magically back to Monument Valley and its beauty. The nearest ‘service center’ to that location is Flagstaff…about 2-1/2 hours away and it is a tiny building with two small stalls for vehicles. Not the expansive one in the commercial. I also know from experience that they do not do mobile repairs on the reservation. I still recommend them, even if the commercial is a little off.
