            AZ: Lowell Observatory, Flagstaff

Sri Lanka has sworn in its new interim President. This is another hot spot to watch.

It has only taken the International Olympic Committee 110 years, but now it is official: Jim Thorpe (Sac and Fox (Sauk): Wa-Tho-Huk, translated as "Bright Path") is the solo winner of the 1912 Pentathlon and Decathlon.

My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts

It’s starting out to be another very warm day. Yesterday’s storms cause road problems, highway closure, and yard flooding for many in the path of water from the latest burn. More monsoon rain expected later today.

The economy is not getting better. June saw a 11.3% increase in wholesale prices. That will soon be met with a similar increase in retail prices.

Congress continues to be asleep. Semi-conductors are used in cars, computers, phones, and many other things. Taiwan produces 90% of all semiconductors used in the USA. Congress is not passing legislation to make semiconductor production more easily available in the US.
