A windy Sunday with Fire Watch conditions.

ISIS massacred students at a Uganda dorm school. I visited Uganda years ago to see the Mountain Gorilla. We also visited a couple of schools. This massacre is so senseless and heart breaking.

The Fire Watch conditions will continue until Monday evening. These high wind conditions only exacerbate the fire conditions. Flagstaff has already had a couple of small transient-caused fires this weekend.

History revisited

An item of clothing prompted assaults in the 1940s.

In the 1940s, Zoot Suits — a loose fitting pair of pants and jacket — were commonly worn by Latino, Black, and other men of color, according to the Smithsonian website. But what some saw as a fashion statement, many saw as an insult towards America and its soldiers, given the wartime rations on fabric.

As a result, the summer of 1943 was filled with attacks of members of these minority communities in Los Angeles, according to History. In an effort to stop the attacks, the Los Angeles City Council issued a ban on Zoot Suits.

 Another Great Spring Day!

An adult male black bear attacked and killed a 65-year-old Prescott man on his porch. The attack was seemingly unprovoked. The bear was killed by officers.

Interesting…The No Labels Party wants to run a mixed ticket in 20245, one Democrat, one Republican. I think we’ve tried 3^rd party before, this time it sounds different. I’ll wait and see if this continues to play out.

According to the book and review, many entered the country one by one and served as spies for American intelligence officials. They were able to start over, living under false names so as to protect their identities and past.

I had a Dr. appt to follow up on my ‘cold’. I am healing well, though not as fast as I want. The Dr. said this must be a strong one! Dr. is happy with my progress. I’m weaning off the Oxygen, thankfully. I go back in a week to see how I’m doing. Things are looking up for sure.

There was a light rain yesterday afternoon, and now we have had 5 days with moisture. This is really helping the decades old drought conditions.

NASA Was Exploring Space When Scientists Were Still Arguing About The Existence Of Plate Techtonics

In 1912, Alfred Wegner proposed his theory of continental drift, and his ideas were not taken seriously by many geologists at the time. Those who doubted his beliefs didn't believe that continental rock could push through the more-dense oceanic crust, which Wegner was unable to prove.

It wasn't until 1967 that Wegner's theory of plate tectonics was finally accepted by the scientific community, and by that time, NASA and the Soviets had already left Earth's crust in order to study space and preparing to land on the moon.

Nice spring day. Still recovering…I see the Dr. tomorrow.

The Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA), has been around since the 1970’s. It was to allow Native tribes to be part of the child’s life. It has been very successful even with numerous lawsuits to take away the power of the law. Today the SCOTUS upheld the law. A great win for the Native tribes of America.

The media is asking the Republican Presidential candidates if they will pardon Trump if elected President. Come on, there has not been a trial to determine guilt or innocence. Let the law play out. Then ask. This is putting the cart before the horse. I am not a politician, but even I can see any answer to that question must be very carefully worded.

Anne Frank And Martin Luther King Jr. Were Born The Same Year

Anne Frank is one of the most discussed figures of the Holocaust due to her posthumously-published The Diary of a Young Girl. Unfortunately, the world only knows her as the young girl in the pictures before she was extinguished by the Nazis.

On the other hand, Martin Luther King Jr. is arguably one of the greatest icons of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s. Yet, although they represent different portions of world history, both were born in the same year of 1929.

The second indictment is history. Yet the News Channels seem that the best way to educate the American population is to re-hash all the events of yesterday, dissect every moment, and keep discussing yesterday. Sad commentary on our country.

History revisited

George Washington Never Knew Dinosaurs Existed

Often referred to as the "Father of the United States" by citizens of the country, George Washington was quite accomplished. A farmer, general, statesman, and the first President of the United States, Washington was a learned man, except that he was completely unaware of a major part of the world's history.

Like everyone else at the time, he had no clue that dinosaurs existed. They weren't scientifically recognized until 1824 when British naturalist William Buckland first wrote the first full account of a fossil dinosaur, which he named Megalosaurus.
