Thoughts for the day

Another hot day. Just finished watering at Andy’s place. He called and they had a great time on their Alaskan Cruise and are now in Phoenix. They will be back in Flag tomorrow.

Flagstaff had a huge No King protest. There were over 3000 at city hall and at least 2 blocks on both sides of Route 66. Very impressive and no cops to be seen.

I watched part of the Trump/Army parade. The songs and soldiers at most parades have me become very patriotic. This parade didn’t do that. It made me sad.

Fairbanks Alaska has issued its first Heat Advisory in its history. High will be around 85. Most buildings do not have air conditioning.

Historic Figures who never existed…

John Henry©jpmueller99 from Shenandoah Valley of VA, USA on Wikimedia

Of the many American folk heroes you'd wish for to be true, the legendary John Henry might spring to mind. According to the fable, he was a railroad worker who challenged a steam-powered rock drill to a race and won—only for his heart to collapse from exhaustion shortly after. His story inspired numerous songs, tales, and plays, even though he was likely nothing more than a fictional character.

Thoughts for the day

A very warm day. A little breeze would be nice.

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there and to the moms who are doing double duty. I had a great dad who is still missed after all these years.

The killings in Minnesota show the trouble our country is in. We must find a peaceful and legal way to end this insanity.

I’m watching the parade today to support the Army’s birthday but not to support Trump’s insanity. I’ll also be visiting the No King demonstration in downtown Flagstaff this afternoon.

Historic Figures who never existed…

Mulan©Aavindraa on Wikimedia

If you've ever watched the namesake Disney movie, you'll know that Mulan was a female warrior who concealed her identity to fight in the army in place of her father. Though her story originates from somewhere between the fourth to fifth century CE, scholars consider her to be a fictional heroine, and that no such woman actually existed.

Thoughts for the day

A warm and sunny day.

Yesterday I was busy with appointments. I am now set to get the port implanted to get my treatment to begin. It should go well now.

There are more troops deployed in LA than in Syria and Iraq combined. Frightening for sure.

Oops, someone in the Trump administration forgot to fill out the necessary forms for the 4000 Nat’l Guard troops to get paid and to get necessary credits for being called up. They are also sleeping on the floor because no accommodation was pre-ordered.

Sen. Padilla of CA was thrown to the floor and handcuffed at DHS Noem’s press conference. It is all recorded and the administration is trying to spin it but it isn’t working. This is not the America I want to live in.

Last night, Israel bombed Iran and today Iran is bombing Israel. This is very sad and all in the name of religion.

Confucius ©Denise Bossarte on Unsplash

Said to have been born during the Spring and Autumn period (770–481 BCE), Confucius is often deemed as China's most notable teacher and philosopher, credited for founding the social, moral, and ethical values detailed in Confucianism, which has been practiced by the Chinese for over two millennia. Though it's widely believed by scholars that he truly existed, there are sparse accounts of his life.
