Free Rambling Thoughts…
Another nice Fall day in Flagstaff. Didn’t take a long walk, but did get out and walk a little. So nice to live in such nice weather. Nights are too chilly to leave the windows wide open all night, but they sure can be during the day.
Today marks two anniversaries for this writer…in 1971 I started my career with the BIA at Shonto, AZ…in 1994 my father passed away at 80.
Some cartoonist in France published cartoons about the Prophet Mohammad. Now French Embassies around the Muslim world are receiving protests and are on heightened security. Three things come to mind: first, those who do not live in a free society can’t conceive that the media is not controlled by the government leadership; second, high unemployment in a country (especially for youth) leads to anger and striking out at many things they don’t agree with; third, Islam is a younger religion than Christianity and one only needs to look back at the Christian Crusades to see that Christians had a no tolerance campaign in its younger days. Education is the answer to stop these protests.

Joke-of-the-day…
Note: Antarian is the politically correct term used in jokes of a person with little common sense.
An Antartian decides to try horseback riding, even though she has had no lessons or prior experience. She mounts the horse unassisted and the horse immediately springs into motion. It gallops along at a steady rhythmic pace, but the Antartian begins to slip from the saddle. In terror, she grabs for the horse's mane, but cannot seem to get a firm grip. She tries to throw her arms around the horse's neck, but she slides down the side of the horse anyway. The horse gallops along, seemingly oblivious to its slipping rider. Finally, giving up her frail grip, she leaps away from the horse to try and throw herself to safety. Unfortunately, her foot has become entangled in the stirrup and she is now at the mercy of the horse's pounding hooves as her head is struck against the ground again and again. As her head is battered against the ground, she is mere moments away from unconsciousness when...Stan the Walmart manager runs out to shut the horse off.

National Punch Day
The word “punch” allegedly comes from the Hindustani word “panch,” which means “five.” In the early 1600s, sailors and employees of the British East India Company brought a new exotic drink from India to England. The beverage was made with five ingredients—spirits, lemon, sugar, water, and tea.

Do you know what this word means?
A mechanical, hand-like device (otherwise known as the 'zapper' or 'thingummy') for manipulating objects by remote control. It was named after the main character in Robert A. Heinlein's novella Waldo (1942), which told the story of Waldo Farthingwaite- Jones, who had been born such a weakling that he couldn't even hold a spoon. Refusing to let this hold him back, he developed a powerful mechanical hand that he operated remotely.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site has mistakes and sadly once out the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
