 Today’s Birthdays:
How many can you identify?…answers in Today’s Birthdays

My Free Rambling Thoughts
A lot of clouds; a little bit of rain…threats of big rain still looming.

I’m having lunch with Cheryl and Mary tomorrow to have a belated celebration of Mary’s birthday. So this morning I head for Tuesday Morning to pick up a gift. I found what I was looking for and am headed to the checkout counter and who do I run into but Mary. It’s been over a month since she left for Oregon so we needed to catch up. I was able to ditch the present, talk to her for a little while, return to my gift and then check out. Strange encounter.

Two of the HOA people were around today taking pictures again. I came out to ask if they were in fact the HOA, as it is strange to see people taking pictures the units. I let them know that I was not happy with the big rocks and was informed that kids had been kicking the small pebbles around and it was costing too much to clean up. I mentioned that the rocks had two problems: first they were great for break ins as they could easily break a window and they said they had never thought of that. Then I mentioned how hard it was to get to the back area. They both live in units here and couldn’t understand why I would want to go back there. We walked back there and they were shocked that we had a good 6 feet of property behind our units. They claimed their units didn’t have that much space and also that their units were flush with the ground. Our units are about a four foot drop. They said they would check into whether the HOA was responsible for that area. I also suggested that they track down the original architectural concept drawings of these units to see what the architect had shown the city when it was built. I simply said I think they would be surprised to see the vision of the property. They asked if I’d seen the drawings and I said ‘you need to see them for yourself, I think you will be surprised.’ Time will tell what happens.

Ok, then?

Unusual Fact of the Day
Unlike a traditional toxin, viper venom functions by preventing the blood from clotting so that the victims bleed to death.
Joke-of-the-day
Three absent minded writers were busy discussing a writing project on the platform, while waiting for the train. The announcement was made, and the train finally arrived. There was complete panic among eagerly waiting passengers as the train made its way to the platform. Passengers rushed inside the train, and the train left. However, one of the writers was not able to catch the train in the confusion.
A passerby who saw all this came up to the writer and told him not to worry and catch the next available train. The writer replied, “I am not worried for myself, but the real problem is that I was the one who was suppose to catch the train, and the two of them who went on the train, actually came to see me off”.

LOWERING YOUR TRAVEL RISKS
Pick a hotel room between the third and sixth floors. Three floors puts you above street attacks and random shootings, while six floors will keep you in range of a cherry picker or fireman's ladder if the place goes up in flames.
Yeah, It Really Happened
GLIWICE, Poland - Archaeologists in Poland say they have discovered a grave filled with the skeletons of apparent accused vampires. Jacek Pierzak, one of the archaeologists, said the skeletons found at a construction site near the town of Gliwice had their heads removed and placed atop their legs, a practice common in Slavic regions when the deceased were accused of vampirism, The Daily Telegraph reported Monday. The accused vampires would sometimes be decapitated and would other times be hanged until decomposition separated the head from the body, historians say. The heads would be placed atop the legs to make it more difficult for the alleged undead to locate if they rose from the grave, they say. Pierzak said it is difficult to determine when the bodies were buried as the team had not found any items such as jewelry, buttons and belt buckles, the British newspaper said.
Somewhat Useless Information
  • Dogs only sweat from the bottoms of their feet, the only way they can discharge heat is by panting.
  • Dalmatians are born spotless: at first pure white, their spots develop as they age.
  • Contrary to popular belief, dogs aren't color blind; they can see shades of blue, yellow, green and gray. The color red registers on a grayscale in a dog's vision.
  • Most domestic dogs are capable of reaching speeds up to about nineteen miles per hour when running at full speed.
  • Using their swiveling ears like radar dishes, experiments have shown that dogs can locate the source of a sound in 6/100ths of a second.
  • Domesticated for more than 10,000 years, the dog was one of the first animals domesticated by humans.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site has mistakes and sadly once out the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
