My Free Rambling Thoughts   

An interesting day. No rain and only a few clouds…that alone is enough change. Modern technology has certainly taken its toll on common sense. A few weeks ago I renewed a script for my eye drops that I have been using for about 5 years. There is now a generic and they were about 1/2 the price. Cool. Then I found the bottle was half the size. The pharmacy said that the Dr. had ordered a 1ml bottle instead of the normal 5ml bottle. The smallest one they had was 2.5ml so that’s what they gave me. Really, a 1ml bottle with 4 refills? No common sense. I called the Dr. this morning and they said that their program had requested a 10ml bottle. I stopped at the pharmacy to get a copy of the script, which did say 1ml. and took it to the Dr. The answer was blamed on their computer program that sends out refills. I asked about the 10ml bottle, which doesn’t exist, and she said it is a really hard program to use. So I got an old fashioned script that I will use the next time I need the drops. Just silly incompetence at the pharmacy and at the Dr.’s office.

 

Such a beautiful day to be outside, with no threat of rain. Had a nice walk, spent some time on the deck, and enjoyed the rest of the day.

OREBRO, Sweden - Some residents of a Swedish town said they are not amused by a 26-foot-tall sculpture of a male figure urinating into a river. The "Bad Bad Boy" sculpture, by Finnish artist Tommi Toija, was installed as part of the Orebro Open Art exhibition on the bank of the River Svartan, The Local.se reported Thursday. A 34-year-old resident who gave her name as Anna said she "really hates" the sculpture and finds its nudity and urination "provocative." However, another resident, Ebba, 62, said she was slightly amused by the work. "I think it's interesting," she said. "But I am happy it is not here forever." Toijas said there is no correct way to interpret his sculpture. "For me, it's just a guy peeing in the river, no more, no less. Some might see it as a funny thing, others might be provoked," he said. The sculpture is scheduled to be in place until Sept. 1.  

Somewhat Useless Information   

• A Hungarian by the name of Erno Rubik invented the Cube in the spring of 1974. He created it as a working model to help explain three-dimensional geometry, and this led to the creation of the world's best selling toy.

• At the peak of the Rubik's Cube craze, an estimated one-fifth of the world's population had played the Cube.

• Rubikcubism is an avant-garde artistic movement in which Rubik's cubes are used as a medium to create art.

• In May 2007, Thibaut Jacquinot of France became the first person to complete the Cube in less than 10 seconds in open competition. Erik Akkersdijik set the current world record for a single solve at the 2008 Czech Open with a time of 7.08 seconds.

• In 1981, a seven-year-old Norwegian boy named Lars-Erik Anderson was one of the youngest Cube solvers. 

• Initially, Rubik considered variations of a 2 x 2 x 2 in cube, but concluded that the simplest and most workable model was the 3 x 3 x 3 in cube.
