Rambling Thoughts
A great Greek lunch with our retirement group. Cheryl had a great visit with her sister and then they both had a great visit with Cheryl’s son and family in CA. Mary has been taking of her cousin-in-law in Phoenix who had breast cancer surgery and is now starting radiation. Mary will be taking her to the treatments whenever she can. Mary’s daughter is planning a visit next month with her two toddlers. Should be fun for all of us…as we will hopefully have lunch with them while they are here. Mike ran his half marathon last Saturday and did well. He has really moved forward in the past few years and hopefully he will continue on that path.An unusually cloudy day here with three different drizzling rain storms that each lasted about an hour. Hard to believe how much rain there has been this monsoon season…so nice…and even better when it comes as a drizzle.Egypt’s military sure is testing the relations with the US. The killing of citizens keeps increasing with no end in sight. Our National Security, the regional stability, the difficult path to democracy and other factors keep our government from dropping aid to the country, but with each passing day it sounds like words are not stopping anything.

Brain Teasers
Listo, the leader of a band of assassins, was taken captive by an opposing kingdom."Give your daggers," said one of the generals, "Or you are to be executed. But since you killed so many of our knights, we shall give you a small test. You must say a statement. If the statement is true, we burn you on a stake. If the sentence is false, we stab you through the heart. If you do not say anything, you are thrown to the lions. If you say something we can't verify, you will be forced to drink a cup of hemlock. If it is not a statement or if it is a paradox, we simply toss you into the nearby volcano. We shall give you one hour to ponder."What should Listo say?

Unusual Fact of the Day
Kentucky Derby fans may notice that race horses never walk to the starting gate alone. Horses are social animals, and thoroughbreds spend a lot of lonely time on the road. Therefore, it is traditional to bring their stable mate, or “companion pony” along to keep them soothed.Joke-of-the-day
Little Jonny was assigned a job for the choir on Christmas. His job was when the choir sang ‘and the Angel lit the candle’ he was to come out and light the candle. So before the service on Christmas Eve they had a practice. So the choir got to the part and sang ‘and the Angel lit the candle’ and there was no Jonny so they sang it a bit louder thinking he didn't hear them and still no Jonny so they sang it even louder and finally Jonny came out and sang; And the cat peed on the matches!

FINDING MR. RIGHT REQUIRES TALKING
Love at first sight? Only with a lot of luck. You can't really know whether you even like someone until you've had 30 hours of productive conversation. Be wary of the one who only invites you to places where you can't chat, like movies, plays and concerts.
Yeah, It Really Happened
LONDON - A poll of the United Kingdom's "crappiest towns" has identified Hemel Hempstead as the crappiest of them all. More than 3,000 people voted in the survey posted by the website Crap Towns Returns and Hemel garnered 785 votes, about 200 more than the next closest crap town, Luton, which received 592 votes. Rounding out the top tier were Slough (352) Bracknell (338) and Birmingham (312), The Daily Telegraph reported Tuesday. Sam Jordinson of Crap Towns Returns said he was hardly shocked when Hemel earned the dubious honor. "I know exactly why Hemel did so well in the poll. I've been there once. And once was more than enough," Jordinson said. "Although I am surprised that Coventry didn't do better: worse, following the number of people writing in to say it looked better just after it was bombed than it does now." The first edition of "Crap Towns" was published to great outrage in 2003 with residents from those towns dubbed the crappiest expressing displeasure and even some members of Parliament condemning it while scoring some points sticking up for their constituencies. Jordinson joked "Crap Towns Returns" is back -- by unpopular demand.
Somewhat Useless Information
- Sugar makes kids go crazy. The Journal of the American Medical Association published a review of 23 studies on the subject of kids and sugar, the conclusion: Sugar doesn't affect behavior. And it's possible that it is the idea itself that is so ingrained as fact that it affects our perception.
- Cholesterol in eggs is bad for the heart. The perceived association between dietary cholesterol and risk for coronary heart disease stems from dietary recommendations proposed in the 1960s that had little scientific evidence, other than the known association between saturated fat and cholesterol and animal studies where cholesterol was fed in amounts far exceeding normal intakes. Since then, study after study has found that dietary cholesterol (the cholesterol found in food) does not negatively raise your body's cholesterol. It is the consumption of saturated fat that is the demon here. So eat eggs, don't eat steak.

that every site has mistakes and sadly once out the information is out there,
many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events
