Rambling Thoughts
Life is good. I have been ‘learning’ Windows 8.1 for about 2 weeks
and finally have it down. I must say that after the learning curve, it is
better than Windows 7. It probably would have been easier to learn if I had
also bought a touch screen monitor. The mouse thing works fine, but I have
decided adds to the learning curve. I’m also using a wireless mouse/keyboard I
had and not everything works the way it should be, but I figured out what to do
to make it work my way. Happy camper with Spring Fever.
Now that this hurdle has been overcome, I am now ready to tackle
some spring issues, like some major spring cleaning. In my much younger days I
would change my living room, bedroom, and office set up about twice a year…just
to get a new perspective on the world. I haven’t ever rearranged my office, and
haven’t done the bedroom or living room for a couple of years….it is now time.
If nothing else, the office needs a major overhaul. Guess I’ll start tomorrow,
or may be the next day.
Cheryl and I got together for lunch, Mary is still in Phoenix with
her sister. Cheryl is busy getting bids on some homeowner things…new roof,
outside paint job, and new windows for her house. I’m glad she is doing this as
she had talked about waiting until she would have to sell but she has decided
it is better to do it now and enjoy it. A big task, but one I know she will be
happy with. She had a great visit from
her grandson and his girlfriend’s family last week. They like Bearizona, the
Grand Canyon, and Sedona. Not a surprise as all are great!

My
story whispers ancient lore; The force at times my rings will hide.
I've sixty minions, maybe more:
Those unseen, these by my side.
Wand'ring
far from glowing light,
Shape-shifting
puzzles curious eyes;Oft my glorious rings shine bright,
While men debate my family's size.
My
aspect seems to wax and wane,
As
the force dictates the deed;My namesake ruled vast fields of grain,
But, legends tell, devoured his seed.

LOWER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (UPI) - A New Jersey man who walked into a
deli in Lower Township and allegedly threatened workers with a samurai sword
has been taken into custody. The incident started when Ryan Crump walked into
American Deli with his sword and demanded that store employees give back his
cellphone. "I thought we were going to get killed. He said he was going to
slice all of us up," deli employee Lee DeBiase told NBC 40. "He told
us he was going to jump across the counter and that we better find his
cellphone fast." When the cellphone didn't appear, Crump brought out the
sword. "He took it out like he thought he was a samurai master. He started
pointing it at everybody and swinging it around. He came pretty close to our
faces and everything," said American employee Mike Houseman. "I
thought he was going to cut my face open with it." "Another inch or
so, Mike wouldn't have an eye or a nose," added deli worker David Valley.
Someone called 911 and Lower Township Police arrived on the scene. Crump was
arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault, terrorist threats
and other weapons offenses. Luckily no one was injured. "When you look
down at the blade of a samurai, your whole life changes," DeBiase said.
Somewhat
Useless Information
In
many cultures around the world -- including Celtic, Hindu and Egyptian weddings
-- the hands of a bride and groom are literally tied together to demonstrate
the couple's commitment to each other and their new bond as a married couple
(giving us the popular phrase "tying the knot").
The
Roman goddess Juno rules over marriage, the hearth, and childbirth, hence the
popularity of June weddings.
Princess
Victoria established the tradition of playing Wagner's "Bridal
Chorus" during her wedding processional in 1858.
The
Catholic tradition of "posting the banns" to announce a marriage
originated as a way to ensure the bride and groom were not related.
Stag
parties were first held by ancient Spartan soldiers, who kissed their bachelor
days goodbye with a raucous party.
The
custom of tiered cakes emerged from a game where the bride and groom attempted
to kiss over an ever-higher cake without knocking it over.

The planet Saturn
Saturn is named after the Roman god of the harvest. When the force
of gravity causes Earth's orbit to take us into the plane of Saturn's rings,
they seem to disappear, and the shape of the planet appears to change. Most of
Saturn's 60 or more moons are visible only through strong telescopes. The sixth
planet from the Sun in the Solar System, Saturn receives little heat and light.
There is still controversy about the number of planets in the
"family" of the Solar System. With the demotion of Pluto, some say
there are eight planets. However, counting Pluto and also the dwarf planets
Eris and Ceres, others would say there are eleven known planets. As the god of
the harvest, Saturn ruled over all agriculture. Because he feared his children
were about to kill him, he devoured them.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at
least one other source, but I have learned that every site has mistakes and
sadly once out the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is
therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian
calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
