My
Rambling Thoughts
Yesterday’s rain bought a really nice day to our little mountain
town. A little cooler than I like, and a little humid, but still a nice day.
Ireland is just a little cooler and a whole lot wetter. Getting excited.
So the Attorney General went to MO to meet with locals. I sure
hope this calms things down. No city or town in this country should have to
live so long under these circumstances. The local police certainly have a lot
to learn. They seem to find new ways to intimidate local Blacks, even entering
a ‘safe haven’ church to look for weapons and to shine bright lights into the
church at night.

From 1889: Not
fewer than four head of cattle were killed this week by freight trains coming
down the grade from Old Town. This matter should be looked into. People cannot
afford to lose their stock by the needless speeding of the A. & P.

A MATTER OF BALANCE
Always let an
attractive woman know that you think she's smart and let a smart woman know
that you think she's attractive.
Superstitions…
When you speak of bad luck, it is said that one should always
knock on wood. Also knocking when speaking of good luck apparently helps with
having good luck. This is an old Celtic tradition related to belief of wood
spirits.
Unusual
Fact of the Day…
The
fortune cookie was invented in the early 20th century by Makato Hagiwara, who
designed the Japanese Tea Garden in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. He
intended the cookie to be a snack for people walking through the garden.
Joke-of-the-day
A little boy
knocks at the door and tells the owner that something of his had found its way
into her garage, and he wanted it back. The homeowner opened the garage and
noticed two additions; a baseball and broken window sporting a baseball-sized
hole.
“How do you suppose this ball got in here?” she asked the child. Taking one look at the ball, one look at the window, and one look at the homeowner, the little boy exclaimed, “Wow lady! I must have thrown it right through that hole!”

Really Happened
STAMFORD, Conn. (UPI) - An English woman who was expecting to be
on her honeymoon is instead enjoying an impromptu American vacation after her
former fiance attempted to fake his own suicide to get out of marrying her.
"'I'm a terrible, awful person," Tucker Blandford, the 23-year-old
former groom to be, admitted to the Daily Mail. Blandford met his former
fiancee, Alex Lanchester, also 23, in 2012 when Lanchester was studying abroad
as a film student visiting the University of Connecticut. The two quickly
became close and started dating. "Tucker was such a gentleman and was
always buying me dinner and beautiful vintage jewelry," Lanchester
recalled. "I'd never been in love like that before. Every Sunday he would
take me out for pancakes, it was so sweet." When Lenchester's time in the
U.S. ended, Blandford proposed to her. As Lenchester planned for their wedding,
set for August 15, Blandford grew increasingly uncomfortable with the
long-distance relationship. Unable to face the pressure of committing to
Lenchester or breaking up with her, Blandford concocted a plan to fake his own
suicide. Pretending to be his father, Blandford called Lenchester and delivered
the news that he suffered from depression and had jumped into the path of a
moving car. The grim ruse quickly unraveled when Lenchester phoned Blandford's
mother to offer her condolences. "He has shattered my trust and I'm not
sure I'll ever be in a relationship again," Lanchester said. "All I
ever did was love him ... I've cried until I felt numb but now I'm just really
angry. I'll be spending our would-be wedding day making new memories without
him. He's a liar and a coward."

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually checked with at
least one other source, but I have learned that every site has mistakes and
sadly once out the information is out there, many sites simply copy it and is
therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the Gregorian
calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
