How many can you identify? Answers below in Birthday’s Today
My Rambling
Thoughts
Ah, sunshine, no clouds, sanity has returned to our little
mountain town. I’m sure not used to, nor I do I want to get used to, several overcast
days in a row. The over an inch of rain was nice for the forest, but not for my
sanity.
Getting ready for the Super Bowl. Should be a good game,
especially if the Seahawks win.

Joke-of-the-day
At a construction site on the 80th floor of a
high rise building, the lone conservative on the crew was having a heated
political discussion with the liberals on the project. Deciding to take a
break, he called everyone over to the edge of the roof. "Did you
know," he began, "that there are extremely violent invisible updrafts
that are able to keep a body floating in mid-air? They only occur at certain
times during the day between buildings. Here, I'll show you!"
He then leaped off the side of the building,
and with arms spread-eagle, floated effortlessly on an unseen cushion of air,
and then gradually steered himself back to the safety of the roof.
"That's awesome," one of the
left-wingers shouted.
"I want to try it."
"Me too," another cried, and then
another, and as they leaped over the side of the roof, one after the other,
they fell 80 floors straight down to the ground, SPLAT! SPLAT! SPLAT!
A crowd rushed over to witness the carnage, and while doing so, one of the
spectators looked up and remarked, "Boy, Clark Kent sure hates
liberals!"
Yep, It
Really Happened
Spokane,
WA
A couple from Spokane, Washington discovered that after a dispute
with Comcast their billing account had been renamed with profanity. After
Ricardo and Lisa Brown argued over their bill with a customer service
representative from Comcast things went from bad to worse. On their next
monthly bill Ricardo Brown's name had been changed to "A**hole
Brown." When the Brown's attempted to have the profanity removed and Ricardo's
name restored they were met with opposition. The Brown's then contacted a
consumer advocacy writer, Christopher Elliott, and the incident was reported.
"You know employees talk about customers behind their back and say things
like this," Elliott told CBS News. "But I've never seen anyone put
something like this in writing. This falls into the category of 'What were they
thinking?'" Elliot then contacted Steve Kipp, Comcast's vice president of
communications in Washington, who said, "We have spoken with our customer
and apologized for this completely unacceptable and inappropriate name
change," he said. "We have zero tolerance for this type of
disrespectful behavior and are conducting a thorough investigation to determine
what happened. We are working with our customer to make this right and will
take appropriate steps to prevent this from happening again." "I'm a
bit stunned by this" said Elliott. "Comcast is a big company. They
can't control all their employees. But you'd think this is part of the basic
training they give to their employees -- don't call your customers
a-holes."
Somewhat
Useless Information
Did
you know that in the city of Dorset the mayor is less than 18 years old and is
very distinctive?
Well,
in the city of Dorset, which is obviously a town that does not take itself too
seriously, the mayor is four years old and his name is Robert Tufts.
According
to bringmethenews.com , the town that calls itself the Restaurant Capital of
the World celebrates its gustatory delights annually at a festival called A
Taste of Dorset and one tradition at the event is the selection of the next
year’s mayor. Instead of electing one, the townfolk pull a name out of a hat.
And whomever that name belongs to is the next mayor. Even if he or she is too
young.

Disclaimer: All opinions are
mine…feel free to agree or disagree.
All ‘data’ info is from the internet
sites and is usually checked with at least one other source, but I have learned
that every site contains mistakes and sadly once the information is out there,
many sites simply copy it and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events
occurring before the Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be
totally accurate.
