My Rambling Thoughts
A really wet day here. The 2” of snow didn’t materialize, but we
did get a dusting that was soon gone after I got up from the rain. April
showers are really appreciated here in this high desert.
Robert Kennedy Jr was plugging his book on immunizations.
Interesting to learn that the number of recommended immunizations has tripled
since I was a kid. Also the use of a form of mercury is what causes so many to
not get immunizations. Robert Jr has some very scathing and frightening issues
with the CDC and how they handle immunization suggestions. Since 1989 he says
that many suggestions are just bought by the companies making the immunization
and that many on the committee making the suggestions are part of the companies
who make the immunizations. Much more to learn, I guess.
Tech is certainly stepping up with the disaster in Nepal. Facebook
uses its location service and is identifying people who are in the quake area
who have posted something recently and then notifying all of that person’s
friends that they are posting. Google, who lost a senior member in the
avalanche, has opened up a site that all you have to do is type in the person’s
name and google will check almost everything they have access to and let you
know if the person has been on line since the quake. Of course, access is very
limited in Nepal always and less than very limited now, but these tech
companies are doing what they can. Pretty cool!
Still smiling about one of Obama’s comments last night. He said he
has been asked if his bucket list has changed since the mid-term elections. His
answer: I don’t have a bucket list, but my list does rhyme with bucket.

(answers at the end of post)
Although
much water you see,
by definition, "desert" fits me.
In the winter I double in size,
but staying away is a word for the wise.
I am very windy, that is a clue,
What am I? Good luck to you.

for the day
A husband, the owner of a new car, was
somewhat reluctant to allow his wife to drive his prize possession...even to
the Supermarket which was a few blocks from the house. After she insisted, he
finally relented, cautioning her as she departed, "Remember, if you have
an accident, the newspaper will print your age!"

Two drunks were in a bar partying like fools.
They were drinking boiler makers, buying rounds like there was no tomorrow.
They were dancing, calling each other "professor," and generally
causing quite a stir.
When asked why such a celebration, they boasted that they just finished a
jigsaw puzzle & it only took them 2 months!
"TWO MONTHS?!" cried the bartender. "That's ridiculous. It
shouldn't take that long!!"
"Oh yeah?" says one drunk. "The box said 2-4 YEARS!"

Yep, It
Really Happened
CHANNELVIEW,
Texas (UPI) - A pregnant Texas woman said she was fired from a Popeye's
eatery for refusing to repay about $400 stolen when she was robbed at gunpoint.
Marissa Holcomb, a former shift manager at the Channelview eatery, said about
$400 was taken in the March 31 armed robbery, which was recorded by security
cameras, and the manager of the Popeye's location told her she would be fired
if she didn't replace the stolen money. "I told them I'm not paying
nothing," Holcomb told KHOU-TV. "I just had a gun to me. I'm not
paying the money." Holcomb, who is pregnant with her fourth child, said
she was fired less than 36 hours after the robbery. "I don't think it's
right because now I'm struggling for my family because what I had to do to keep
my life," she said. A representative from the human resources department
of franchise owner Z&H Foods Inc., the third-largest franchisee in the
Popeye's chain, said Holcomb was fired for violating company policy by leaving
too much money in the register. The representative said the incident wasn't
Holcomb's first offense. The representative said the company was not aware of
Holcomb being offered the chance to keep her job by repaying the money. Holcomb
said the money hadn't been deposited into the store's safe because an offer for
a $1.19 2-piece chicken meal had the store busier than usual. "They got
what they got because that's what we made within one hour," she said.
Holcomb said she is worried she won't be able to find another job. "I mean
who's gonna call me? I'm 5 months pregnant," she said. "The fact that
I got robbed at gunpoint and it's like nobody cares."

Brain Teasers Answers
Antarctica.
Antarctica is full of snow and ice - forms of water.
It receives less than 10 inches of precipitation a year, which makes it a
desert.
In the winter, water freezes around it, doubling its size.
The extremely cold temperatures are deadly for humans.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually
checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains
mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it
and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the
Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
