My Rambling Thoughts
Great lunch on the restaurants patio. Not a lot happening with
Cheryl. We are both having a nice quiet summer.
A lot of people believe anything and everything they read…even on
the internet machine. I read a lot of stuff on the internet and especially on
FB that is just crazy. It is becoming more and more cumbersome to check it out
for some kind of truth. When I find a FB post or an email that seems
outrageous, I check it out, and then send an IM to the ‘friend’ who posted it
with links to the truth. Several times recently I have seen something, checked
it out and notified the person who posted it. Today I did that on a Diane Feinstein
quote someone posted. Snopes said the quote was false because it was from a now
defunct satirical web newspaper. I sent an IM to the person. She responded that
Snopes is a liberal website that cannot be trusted and she stands by her post.
Really? I believe you never argue with an idiot because you can never win and
it lowers you to their level. So I didn’t respond. So unfortunate that there
are so many undereducated people on the internet machine…and that they are
spreading the falsehoods around the world.

Inside
each set of the following words, there are a pair of smaller words. By putting
& between them, lo & behold, you'll make a familiar phrase. For
example, "Thighbone/Swallowtail" conceals "High & Low."

The U.S. Civil Service has compiled an exam for Power Plant
Switchboard Operators in the U. S. Quartermaster Corps War Department at Fort
Huachuca. It pays $2,000 per year less $180 for housing quarters, which are
supplied and an additional 3.5 percent for a retirement annuity. This sounds
like a very good employment opportunity.
The new potato sprayer bought by the Fort Valley Potato Sprayer
Association is now in operation. It sprays the newly developed dry lime sulfur
solution at high pressure. The solution is now made by just mixing it with
water. No more need to cook it. It will cover 25 acres per day drawn by a tractor
or 15 acres with a horse.

Three Antartians were going on a hunting trip
one day.
They came to a high fence and saw a sign that said, "No Trespassing. All
violators will be shot!"
They ignored the sign's warning and climbed the fence anyway.
After they were over the fence (it was dark now), they saw a car's headlights
speeding toward them.
They remembered the sign's warning and scrambled up separate trees.
The driver, who was a farmer, said, "I know I saw someone climb one of
these trees." He went to the first tree and yelled, "Who's up
there?"
The first man was very silent and the farmer moved to the next tree. Again he
yelled, "Who's up there?"
The second man knew that the farmer would take a closer look this time, so he
said, "Whooo Whooo [like an owl]."
The farmer then went to the last tree thinking he could have made a mistake and
did not see anyone.
The farmer looked up in the next tree and said, "Who's up there?"
The third man then said confidently, "Mooooooooooooooo."

Yep, It Really
Happened
EVESHAM,
England (UPI) - When the secretary of a members-only bar in Britain opened up
one day to find the premises trashed, he wasn't expecting the culprit to be a
squirrel, let alone a drunk one. Sam Boulter, 62, the secretary of the
Honeybourne Railway Club near Evesham in Worcestershire, told the BBC he found
the bar covered in beer and smashed glasses and beer bottles when he opened up
Sunday evening. After making the discovery, he said he saw a squirrel
"staggering around," coming out from behind a box of potato chips.
"There were bottles scattered around, money scattered around, and he had
obviously run across the bar's pumps and managed to turn on the Caffrey's
tap," Boulter said. "He must have flung himself on the handle and
drank some, as he was staggering around all over the place and moving a bit
slowly. "I've never seen a drunk squirrel before. He was sozzled and
looked a bit worse for wear, shall we say," he added. Boulter told the
Daily Mail he and two customers spent about an hour chasing around the
squirrel, trying to get him out of the bar. He eventually caught the rodent in
a trash can and let him go out a window. He said the squirrel's antics cost the
bar about $470 in damage. "He is the rowdiest customer we have ever had
but I hope he enjoyed his lock-in," Boulter said.

Somewhat Useless
Information
White
rice, wild, jasmine, arborio and basmati rice all keep forever so there's no need
to throw them out. Brown rice is the one exception because it has a higher oil
content so store it in the refrigerator or freeze it to maximize its shelf
life. Once you've opened a bag or box of rice, move it to an airtight container
or resealable freezer bag to keep it fresh.
***
Honey.
Whether you use it in your tea, on your toast or as an alternative sweetener,
that jar of pure honey is good forever. It may get grainy or change color, but
it's still safe to eat - and delicious - because its antibiotic properties keep
it from spoiling.

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually
checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains
mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it
and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the
Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
