My
Rambling Thoughts
Wasn’t expecting the monsoon, but rained a lot last night and is
cloudy enough to rain some more this evening through the night.
Ran a few errands this morning and some light cleaning this
afternoon.
Nice to see that Obama is renaming the US’s highest peak back to
its aboriginal name. May make some people angry but recognizes the original
people of Alaska. Way to go! Not nice to
see that he is up in Alaska to talk about more oil drilling in the ocean. He
should be leading the way on setting a decline in fossil fuels.

Konyak tribesmen celebrate the Aoleang planting festival by wearing traditional
costumes, beating log drums and firing off their muskets. This is probably my
favorite outtake from our Naga coverage. The Northeast Indian state of Nagaland
is home to 16 indigenous hill tribes.

A. Dam!

Four southern ladies were sitting around
having Bloody Marys and talking about how much their husbands loved them.
The first one says, "My husband loves me so much that he bought me a
diamond ring." But, of course, she was in such a hurry she forgot her
rings, but all the women still said, "Oh, how nice."
The second woman says, "Well, my husband loves me so much he got me a fur
coat." But it was the middle of July and too hot to wear a coat, but still
all the ladies said, "Oh, how nice."
So then the third woman says, "Well, my husband loves me so much he bought
me a Mercedes-Benz." And, of course, she was being chauffeured in the
family Buick."
So they all looked at the fourth woman and said, "Well, honey, how much
does your husband love you?"
She replied, "He loves me so much that he bought me lesson to a charm
school so I could learn to say 'Oh, how nice' instead of sarcastically saying
'Oh, ya, right' after everything you ladies say."

YELLOWSTONE
NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. - A disappointed visitor to Yellowstone National Park left a
note on a feedback form asking rangers to train bears to hang out where they
can be seen. The note, shared on Reddit by a person who purported to be a friend
of an employee at a Yellowstone lodge, was written on the bottom of a feedback
form for trouble with maintenance and housekeeping. The note reads: "Our
visit was wonderful but we never saw any bears. Please train your bears to be
where guests can see them. This was an expensive trip to not get to see
bears." A Redditor commenting on the post said the note reminded them of a
quote from a Yellowstone park ranger: "There is considerable overlap
between the intelligence of the smartest bears and the stupidest
tourists."

Three
dogs (from First Class cabins!) survived the sinking of the Titanic - two
Pomeranians and one Pekingese.
It's rumored that, at the end of the Beatles song, "A Day in the
Life," Paul McCartney recorded an ultrasonic whistle, audible only to
dogs, just for his Shetland sheepdog.
Dalmatian puppies are pure white when they are born and develop their spots as
they grow older.
Dogs and humans have the same type of slow wave sleep (SWS) and rapid eye
movement (REM) and during this REM stage dogs can dream. The twitching and paw
movements that occur during their sleep are signs that your pet is dreaming.
Dogs' eyes contain a special membrane, called the tapetum lucidum, which allows
them to see in the dark.
A large breed dog's resting heart beats between 60 and 100 times per minute,
and a small dog breed's heart beats between 100-140. Comparatively, a resting

Disclaimer: All opinions are mine…feel free to agree or

All ‘data’ info is from the internet sites and is usually
checked with at least one other source, but I have learned that every site contains
mistakes and sadly once the information is out there, many sites simply copy it
and is therefore difficult to verify. Also for events occurring before the
Gregorian calendar was adopted [1582] the dates may not be totally accurate.
