Today’s Quote

Wise sayings often fall on barren ground,
but a kind word is never thrown away.
Arthur Helps

Random Tidbits

Several Hindi terms, picked up from Indian Army soldiers and already circulating in the regular, professional army, were also disseminated widely. One of those most used at the front was "cushy" from khush ('pleasure'). Soldiers would describe cushy, or comfortable billets, as well as cushy trenches, in quiet sectors.
***
The most well-known term derived from Hindi though was "Blighty", from bilati, meaning "foreign", which, when applied by Indians to Britons, came to be perceived by Indian Army servicemen as the term "British".

My Rambling Thoughts
Started my day and my week with a much needed pedi. Turns out I wasn’t the only one needing one. One Grandma brought in her daughter and 3 young (under 12) granddaughters for manicures and pedi for the daughter and oldest granddaughter. I had to wait a little while, but just watching it was enjoyable.

Still waiting for the painters to do their thing on my front security door. I’m not alone, anyone with is security door is waiting just like me. Might be the cold weather.

Not sure which is worse…45 not showing up at a Veteran’s Day remembrance at Arlington or his excuse that he was busy making phone calls on the holiday. I figure he didn’t show up because the Generals convinced him that his ‘military’ parade was expensive, and not very American.  And then he bad mouthed retired Navy Admiral William H. McRaven, the man who killed Osama because he was/is a Hillary supporter.
