My
Rambling Thoughts
I’m
getting very tired of the cold weather. It is time for a warming trend…soon.
I
headed out this morning to do some shopping. It was 14°. Got what I needed and
headed home. While I was in Chicago, I had a morning smoothie of fresh fruit and
almond milk for breakfast several mornings. They were great. So I picked up the
necessary ingredients and will start having them tomorrow.
I
wish the Postman would learn to read. I had a ‘mail hold’ during my trip. I
clearly marked ‘will pick up mail’. I went to my small box today and there was
all my mail for over a week jammed into my mailbox. This happens most times I
travel out of town. So next trip I’m adding a few days to the hold so I can pick
it up at the Post office.
In
all the mail I found a bill from the hospital for my plate removal. The total
bill was $9.750.23. The bill was for $50.48 for ‘self-administered drugs’. I
called to find out about it. Turns out Medicare and BCBS decided that I could
have taken the drug on my own. The lady said she had removed the cost as their
billing is messed up. I asked what drug. It was for ONE oxycodone. (I had a script for oxycodone for 20 tablets
and it cost me $1.42). Big Pharma and hospitals have sure figured out how
to beat the system and screw the insurance companies and the patients. I get
that there are costs for the pharmacist to put the pill in a tiny cup, for a
nurse to bring the tiny cup and a small cup of water to me and watch me take
it, but $50.48 seems a tad outrageous. Oh well, it was cancelled, because I
called. The lesson: Never pay a hospital bill until you have talked to a human.
