Random Tidbits

Major risk factors that increase high LDL levels include cigarette smoking, high blood pressure, low HDL cholesterol (below 40 mg/dL), family history of early heart disease, obesity, and age (men: 45 years or older, women: 55 years or older).

Research shows that stress increases "bad" cholesterol levels. In contrast, the better a person copes with the stress, the higher his "good" cholesterol levels are.

A little humor

The dentist said that he could knock me out with gas, or he could use a big metallic rock.

I said ether/ore.

My Rambling Thoughts

Warming up a little, still wind is an issue. I took a short neighborhood walk so I wouldn’t lose what is left of my mind. Chilly but bearable.

While working on the Rez, I drove over Wolf Creek Pass twice a year to visit my parents. I was not surprised when Wolf Creek Ski Area was the first to open in Colorado. The Pass, and surrounding area is awesome. Great views in the pull outs, really fresh air, and well-kept roads year-round. On one Christmas trip I was the last vehicle to get through the gate on the southern side as the plow guy I had been following stopped, got out, and closed the gate. It was awfully slow going but I had 4-wheel drive and made it. I remember I stayed at a small hotel on the Denver side as the 2+ hour drive over the pass had worn me out.

The Dodgers won their first world series since 1988. The BIA schools took their 8th grade graduating students for a week at S. California venues. The idea was to prepare them for life off the Rez. For years we included a Dodger’s game. After their 1988 World Series wins, it was impossible to get that many tickets, even in the nosebleed section. We started going to Angels games. Those games were OK, but the Dodger’s games were spectacular.

I’m so excited that Trump has stopped Covid…at least that is what he is saying. I plan on remaining vigilant until medical professionals announce that it has been stopped. Vote!!!
