Today’s Quote
I'm just thankful for everything, all the blessings in my life,
trying to stay that way.
I think that's the best way to start your day and finish your day.
It keeps everything in perspective.
Tim Tebow
Random Tidbits
Although
George Washington was the first to create a national day of thanksgiving, it
didn't become a national holiday (with a set date) until Lincoln officially
made it the last Thursday of November. For the interim 74 years, each state
scheduled its own Thanksgiving at different times. The original document that
proclaimed the exact date of Thanksgiving was written by Secretary of State
William Seward in 1863, and then sold a year later to benefit Union troops.
A little humor
When you ask me what I am doing today, and I say
"nothing," it does not mean I am free. It means I am doing nothing.
True Things
A
New York state police officer said he pulled a car over for speeding in a
carpool lane and discovered the passenger was a wooden dummy in a hooded
sweatshirt. Suffolk County Highway Patrol Officer Jonathan Abrams said he
spotted a car speeding in the high-occupancy vehicle lane on the Long Island
Expressway in Dix Hill about 6:30 a.m. Friday. Abrams pulled over James
Campbell, 56, and quickly "realized that the front seat passenger wasn't
human," the officer told WABC-TV. "I was trying not to laugh at the
guy because I thought it was quite silly," Abrams told WNBC-TV. Abrams
said Campbell told him he was using the dummy so he could take the HOV lane and
be on time for his new job. Campbell said he has been using the dummy to travel
in HOV lanes "for months." He said being cited for speeding and an
occupancy violation has not changed his habits -- Campbell said he used the
dummy to drive in the HOV lane on his way home Friday.

My Rambling Thoughts
Chilly night, only warming up to a balmy 50.
Christmas in Mexico is getting more iffy…CDC says not to travel. Not
worried until it gets closer. Limited time in one airport. My Kn95 masks for
traveling should arrive on Monday.
Times have certainly changed. Remember the Energy crisis? The
President announced that the national speed limit would be 55. Citizens, including
me, were not happy with it. It added an extra 30 minutes each way from the Rez
to Flagstaff. I remember being glad I had cruise control and a radar detector
in my vehicle. I don’t remember any protests in the streets. The government
assured that while getting gas was a pain, we had gas, we had electricity and
we could heat our homes. Today the government recommends that everyone wear a
mask and keep 6’ distance and people go crazy. A sad state of affairs for sure.
Back in March, the medical staff of our country were begging for PPE
masks, gowns, gloves. That was in the news for a couple of weeks. Now, as we
are deep into the 2nd wave, again, no PPE’s for medical staff. Why
are we not prepared for this wave? We have been hearing it was coming since
July. Did the administration fail to do what was necessary to have the PPE
needed? Why didn’t the PPE manufactures prepare for the 2nd wave.
Did some executives decide it would too costly, if the 2nd wave never
arrived? I am more than disappointed that we are not prepared.
Andy and Faith will be getting back Sunday evening. Andy says it was a
very good visit. One of my neighbors texted that he is returning Sunday or
Monday. He lost his father to a heart attack a couple of weeks ago and has been
on the Rez ever since.
