My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
Hangin in
there. At least I’m not getting worse. I had hoped
that Biden would pull the country together, get America vaccinated, and deal
with the many problems. Sadly, he has not come close to my expectations. The
mess in Texas at the border is unacceptable. The US is testing and
vaccinating the Afghans who are here or coming. The Haitians at the border
are getting neither. And now we are sending the back to Haiti. Ignoring the
crisis at the border will not simply go away. The Haitians and many others
are desperate, and America has always offered help. Living under the bridge
is only asking for problems with disease, hunger, and crime. Americans need
to stand up to find a fix for this humane crisis. When I was in
college as an undergrad, I tutored children in Broomfield. Most of them were
migrant worker’s children. They were in Broomfield only part of the school year.
Then they returned to Mexico, only to return when the season offered jobs to parents.
It was certainly challenging. I actually tutored several students over my 3
years who came, then left, then returned the following year. I am beginning
to believe that politicians don’t want to fix the migrant situation as it is a
way to get votes, with no solution helping them more than standing up for
what is right and fixing the whole system. |
