My Sometimes-Long-Winded Thoughts
Great day outside. My dentist
decided to observe Labor Day, so Tylenol will have to do until tomorrow. The
toothache is not getting better on its own. I knew Flag is
having a wet monsoon…but so far there has been 170% more moisture than
average. That means in 2021 there has been 10.35”; while the average is 6.09”.
Better news is that monsoon season doesn’t end until Sep 30. Ever hear of
the WWII Richie Boys? I hadn’t until last night on 60 Minutes. They
were a group that gathered intel on the European Front. They were German-Jews
who had fled Nazi Germany in the late 1930’s and came to America. Because they
spoke fluent everyday German, they were trained in Intelligence Gathering by
the US Army at Fort Richie. They were able to interrogate German POW’s and
figure out lots about troop movements and locations of troops. They are now
being recognized for the major contribution they provided on the European Front.
This is much like the Navajo Code Talkers to the Pacific Front in the
Marines. As I watched the report I had
to wonder if the US Military had any secret Intelligence groups in Korea,
Vietnam, and Afghanistan. I certainly hope they did in Afghanistan and that
they are still operating. The mission would still be top secret. |
